Hope ive got the right thread,I have got my system set up and have my null rs232 cable and a cd that was supplies with my receiver,I have read the tutorial on how to patch my receiver(darkman) but need to ask a couple of questions.....1.why do i need to patch my receiver 2.what will i get extra if i patch it? scrambled channels? if,yes, what will i get and on what satellite? 3.is there a risk of nausing up my system? 4.I am thinking of buying a card for saturday footie,if i do,will it be neccessary to patch the receiver 5. Is it something that has to be done on a regular basis,If i do manage to get scrambled channels 6 And, what and how do you enter 'Keys'?? cheers neil

1. A patch is software that clears channels that you would otherwise have to pay for by emulating certain encryption systems. You will also need keys to complete the process(which you have to load as well - know as softcams). The manufacturer cannot supply the box loaded with this for obvious reasons.
2. Read around, this changes all the time atm there's Premier(19e) T*S (13e) Digi tv (1w) to name a few, you will obviously need a dish that is capable of pointing at the sats in brackets.
3 Not if you follow the instructions carefully. Even then there's usually a way out.
4 The patch should enable the card, but it is advisable to check before buying the card.
5.Yes you will need to update keys regularly, the patch not so often.
6.Follow the guides, it can be done by pc or remote control.
These are the basics, but to get the best out of your receiver, like all things, you need to read up a bit more.
Hope this helps,

Regards,
Ollie

Sometimes the patches come with auto-update for certain packages (AU) if this is the case then you will just have to select a certain channel and wait and the channels will clear. Example, if you load the latest patch and select T*S/Multiv*sion and wait on france4 the packlage should clear. These features come and go though.

Ollie

Patch 250p - 13/02/08
Softcam - 15/02/08 (12:55)

It is quite rare to muck up the TM receivers when downloading software, but nevertheless it does happen. For the 1000 series such as yours, one way of recovering from a failed download is to switch the receiver off at the wall socket, then start the loader software and download an official .stb file, just after pressing the 'Start' button, you switch the receiver back on. The receiver will then be fixed.

Hi I have now patched my receiver and now need to be able to enter keys,I have entered the sysem info page on the receiver but no cas menu /biss menu option comes up,I have also tried the mute/exit option suggested on my cd but nithing happens??? help please

found it after re patching, now all i need is a tutorial on how to enter the keys,,could someone please give me an example so i can follow it,I need to know what goes in the box that says-Ident its a six figure input but on some of the key codes there doesnt seem to be 6 figures then in the left hand boxes(2 figures) if you run out of spaces do you automatically go to the next line?

If you go on to the site where you downloaded the patch from there is a very useful download for newbies. It explains everything and even contains a RAR program and a loader. Naturally I could explain to you how it's done but why reinvent the wheel?:)

Rather than entering keys manually, there is usually a softcam file that cane be loaded onto the receiver, this would save you some hassle.

I patched my receiver with the cd that came with my box,so what site are we talking about(or aren't you allowed to say?) cos i cant find it! I think your saying that there is a programme out there that will send keys direct to the box via my null cable.is that right?,If i cant find it i will obviously have to input by remote but i just cant make head nor tail if what goes where! my brain hurts!

Alsat, this is where the patches come from.

You use the same loader program that you used to load the software, you just have to select the keys tab, instead of the software tab. You should find everything you need on the site ollie mentioned, after you have registered.
