PayPal prepares for a challenge from Google

Good news - it's about time PayPal had some serious competition.

I have already expressed an interest that Google could also be the only serious competition to eBay.

They have started to make inroads with Froogle which is free at present.

The charges on eBay have been getting higher.

Listing fees (charge for features)
Final valuation fee %
PayPal payment fee %

It all adds up - no wonder people charge 99p for the item and £12 postage!

They certainly do need some competition, but it isn't as if there isn't any already, Nochex, Fastpay, both online payment methods, but they lack Google's exposure.
 
No matter how they slice it, Paypal is part of eBay, and anyone using the two is hard pushed to find an alternative way of buying/selling once their details are online. They have corresponding addresses at Richmond, but deny they are involved , even after both companies correspond using the same headers and subject lines.

Ive had run ins with Paypals childish attitude when I found their anti money -laundering scheme was nothing more than a method of getting eBay customers to provide multiple / alternative forms of payment for their 'services'.

The whole scheme stinks, its about time competition came in, but they do need taking down a peg first.
 
don't get me started about ******* paypal,i paid for an item,£293,from the states and the guy inadvertantly pressed deny payment as he was getting hassle from paypals credit card offer,anyway i get a refund of £279:eek: then when i go to pay him again its gone upto £294,this is in a space of 12hrs.
Paypals exchange rate is ******* ripoff'O'-red
 
You could probably get a refund from Paypal on that Oily, that is out of order.
 
The problem is that if you want to sell something on the internet, eBay is the place, and their method is PayPal (and they are the same organisation, no doubt about it!). eBay are not going to open it up without pressure from the US, and that isn't going to happen any time soon, if ever.

If Google want to challenge them, they will have to set-up an auction site of their own - good luck to them though if they can make it cheaper.
