Penta 68 or 80cm dish

My Satellite Setup
DM 7025+s-t
Raven gemini 70 ,13e,19e,28e
85cm Transparent dish Moteck SG2100 and inverto black ultra lnb.
My Location
UK,Sheffield
I'm going to put up a 80cm dish to pick up some of the western satellites (hopefully) ,i came across the penta 68 which they say is as good as a 80cm but will look smaller.
I don't want to go any bigger than a 80cm dish and really would need to be the mesh type due the the winds i get, i know the penta is solid but its smaller size would help.
What do you think?

Both the 68cm & 85cm Penta dishes perform excellent due to the design. If your in an exposed location consider the aluminium versions. Maybe if your happy to go up to an 80cm, go for the 85cm as the results will speak for themselves.

Go for the biggest you can get away with. You know the wife will be more impressed with a larger one.
 
I know that the bigger one would be better but i would prefer the 68,if its as good as a standard 80cm then i will go for it.
Does anyone know the measurements for the 68?

It is probably as good as a lot of 80cm dishes, but probably only the cheap and nasty ones.

I've just measured one and the face is basically a square tuned onto a corner with a little of the bottom corner cut off.

It is 75cm tall, 78cm wide and the sides of the square are 62cm.

Thanks for the info ,what would be a good lnb to pair with this dish, i don't mind paying a little extra for something that will get the best performance from it.
 
Where is the best place to buy the penta?

Since the Penta has no dedicated feedhorn, you will probably get away with one of the newer intergal LNBs. Personal recommendation is usually better than advertised figures in this respect, have a look around on the site and match the results with the sponsors that sell the Penta, you could get one thrown in at the moment if you ask nicely (or buy a motor at the same time)
 
In the end i bought a transparent 85cm dish ,works fine and the wife doesn't mind it at all:cool:.

Would you be able to post a picture of the dish. I am having the same deliberation. The Penta or a transparent 80-85 dish. Would like to see how the transparent dish looks. Are you picking up any footy on 1w?
