A while back Nelson gave me one of these record decks but I'm having issues starting the turntable rotating ...after much deliberation ..I'm now convinced there is something missing..
that connects through a hole in the plastic shell ...the tone arm to the push the activation plastic lever of the mech and start the turntable rotation..
I'm guessing it should be roughly L shaped ..and if I could see one I could reproduce it ..
I'm adding a couple of pics to show roughly what I mean ..
I have made a peg in white ...but is clearly the wrong shape ..as it restricts the tone arm movement and fails to reach and activate the deck mech lever..
I'll keep trying to figure this out ...and I have the deck pdf exploded diagram ...but is basically no help at all ..
cest la vie
....
If anyone actually has one of these perhaps they could investigate and post a photo ???

Still working on this turntable...
I have elongated the slot through which I assume the lost lever fits ..and began work on crafting one that I hope will do the job ..
Made of plastic ...basically L shaped ...but curved.
Slowly coming together but still some cutting filing and shaping needed to achieve full arc swing ..but atm ..
within a short arc ..it works and will activate the turntable when the tone arm is swung inward..

Not what you're looking for but when I had this issue with my ancient (but perfectly functional) JVC turntable, I hard wired it to always rotate the table - because some plastic thing broke. The caveat is that it's also on and turning and there's no automatic stop or return of the arm to its resting position....

I suspect I too will have to manually return the tone arm to the rest position Alex ...but at least this action will stop the turntable rotating ..
The turntable only starts when the arm is moved inward about 5 degrees of arc..

Lap of the gods now ...
Corrected the tonearms rest position arc movement by trimming about 0.5mm off one side of the L lever..
but letting it run now to see how much correction I need at the other end of the arc ..
as it approaches the disc centre..
Very much trial and error this one..

Damned close now..
So ..the tone arm can now be clamped in the rest position with very slight resistive sideways force ..
not enough to be an issue ..
at 10 degrees of swing of the tone arm ..turntable rotation begins ..
The tone arm when placed on an LP progresses but impeded to the exit or/dead track at the end of the LP ..if lifted there it remains cycling until the arm is manually lifted clear and returned to rest ..whereupon turntable rotation ceases.
The resistance is encoutered at about 50% of travel
So I still have work to do to figure out where the slight resistance is ...but I hope to get there ..
Eventually ..cos it sounds superb through the Yamaha surround amp which has a magnetic phono input.

Fairly conclusive I think ..
The curved L shaped lever is creating the resistance ..
If I remove it then reach underneath and push the turntable actvation lever manually ..to start rotation ..then pop the tune arm on the disc ..it plays to completion _without_ problems ..
So more shaping of the lever ..
curved serction width is rubbing a little on the silver plastic of the deck moulding underneath as it rotates..
so some width reduction needed ..
;)
Hope that makes sense..
I WILL Fudge this ..
lol

I like your determination!

Is satellite stuff on back burner until warmer weather arrives?
