Would it be possible to put photos/pictures in the posts? (not as an attached file)

Sometimes the best way of explaining things is by a picture.

I think the problem there is that it slows up the page loading, which is why a lot of the other forums that used to allow it have now stopped it.

Then the person casually browsing does not result in the attachment being downloaded every time.
