hi all! i am new to this forum and could do with some help,i live in spain with a sports bar and i have had fitted a dreambox for the football,i have a wireless receiver for my internet that goes to a router that my linux ibox 500 is connected to,the guy that fitted it assured me that it would be fine with this system but the channels constantly freeze up and when you have a bar full of england fans this is not good,he says it might not be a fast enough connection now,but my provider says its fine, but it still does this. can anyone tell me wether it is internet connection or something he is not doing correctly, i have outlaid alot of money and would like to get to the bottom of this. thanks ram750

The keys arent updating quickly enough across the internet when the provider rolls the keys.

Could be one of several problems

there is a slow link in the chain - especially if you are using a card several hops away

your installer is using the same configuration line in multiple receivers (Id imagine this is very likely wouldnt you?) This causes major problems.

your internet connection isnt fast enough to update quickly enough.

To be honest your best bet would to be buy proper subscription(s) for the services you are interested in. Then you are guaranteed service for a year.

i have outlaid alot of money and would like to get to the bottom of this.

You could have installed the basic equipment yourself for a couple of hundred Euros - You have a dreambox 500 clone and they tend to be cheap and nasty receivers.

Well my recommendation is that you take it up with him then, you say you paid a lot of money for this so it is reasonable to expect a working service for it. As previously mentioned if you are card sharing, these people tend to be greedy and put too many people on the same server causing sluggish key changes.

Get him back

Thanks for all your help with my problem i will get on to him and see what i need to do now,i know nothing about these dreamboxes so any other advice tips or anything in general about them it would be great,i had a dark box with a show time card last year but i needed more and different games shown on each tv....thanks again Rams750:)

oooh man....cant believe you have gone for the cardshare route when you have a place packed full of punters. At any given time cardshare throws up various problems:-

1) your internet could go down
2) his internet could go down
3) his card could go down
4) he could be a con man
5) NDS encyption (sky uk) is notorious for picture freezing over the net.
6) what your installer is doing is very dodgy anyway...no professional installer would even think about putting u in touch with cardshare, let alone giving u a service....of which he is probably making a nice little earner

and all the while you could have a bar full of drunken brits kicking off.

as previous people said....it maybe worthwhile getting a local subscription card... d+ spain now has put english sub carriers onto its sports channels...to tempt a lot of ex pats living in spain to go with them

on the only positive note...I imagine you dish is pointed at 28east for Sky UK???

you could well ask him to point the dish at 19e or 13e or both. There you will find an array of broadcasters throught europe who will have footy on in other encyrptions which are not NDS ,,,this will make it better for freezing

also you are running a business and depending on what your local authorities are like....they could well shut your business down

thanks! i have 4 dishes up a 2.4m on astra 28deg a 1.1 on nilesat 1.1 on 19deg and i think the other is on hotbird,i also have a skybox rigged up with a double lnb on the 2.4 and can subscribe again any time,i spoke to a guy today and he told me pretty much the same thing as you he said to get a card be it sky or showsports and you can rig multiple boxes up to one card so i might go down that road, the more i learn the more i realise the guy that installed my dream box might be related to mickey mouse...thanks again rams750

I see an easy way to do this - get three or four linux boxes, get the subs cards for Nilesat & Sky for instance - and card share within your own establishment then you are in complete control of the system
