Pixelation due to movement?

My Satellite Setup
DM800HD
My Location
West Mids
On 28.2e Sky channels I get occasional or sometime frequent breakups and pixelation on both HD and SD channels, I have an 80% SNR, 0BER, 99%AGC. What would cause this when the other satellites with weaker signals are perfect? Is the dish moving in the wind or is there something up with my setup?

Some details of your dish might help - and maybe some pics.

Have you considered line of sight issues? That might be consistent with what you report.

I think your right with the LOS idea as the satellite sits low behind those trees right?

After a quick check of other channels, some have no issues at all, Nat Geo HD etc and others are quite frequent, comedy central (xtra,+, HD).
 
I think those trees are too far away to affect LOS. I have some biggies much closer than that and they don't trouble me. (Apart from one very, very close one that limits me to 36/39E for six months of the year).

Not sure what else the problem could be ............ but it seems to be predominantly HD Channels ???

Are HD Channels on eg 19E similarly affected?

Just clutching at straws, really.


Edit: Post #1 also mentions SD Channels, so maybe we need to look for another common factor ............... Polarity? Skew error?
 
Line of sight looks okay and the aforementioned channel doesn't fall within DECT frequencies [would make sense as other satellites are okay]. Is the box a clone as I believe there were early tuner issues.
 
Unfortunately SD is as bad as HD, ill check HD on 19e at half time ;)
Its a clone but its a 2.01 sim 76 bootloader L3 tuner box.
 
I've zoomed in on the dish ............. skew looks ok (ie Zero in relation to the collar).

A minor point which shouldn't have any significant impact - certainly not on just one Satellite position is that the LNB cable goes over the arm and thus infinitesimally occludes the dish.

Better to run it under the arm.

But as to the cause of your problem, I'm afraid inspiration is yet to strike.
 
Actually, I wonder if you could post up a pic or three of the back of the dish ............... to show the cable routing and connections to the motor.

I am wondering if you might be suffering from the F connection from Motor to LNB coming loose with repeated dish movement?

A sensible idea is to constrain that cable by tying it to the pole a few inches from the Motor. If you leave it flying, it can drag as you move the dish one way, but will not tighten as you move the dish the other way.
 
I re-did all the connections just prior to posting, I even got my in line meter to try and diagnose it so im 100% certain they are all tight.

Its weird, I have ESPN HD @ 90%+ SNR with occasional glitches, SS2HD @81%snr almost unwatchable, Discovery HD @70% and perfect, Comedy Central HD @60% not glitching after 5 mins watching, comedy central +1 @49% and glitching occasionally.

Its clouded over and raining heavy and it seems to have improved some channels and made others worse!
Does any of that info help?

Do you have a different LNB you could try?

That really is a "shot in the dark", but you never know.

Just a very old sly digital original from back in the day, doubt I could rig it up lol! Not sure what discussion is allowed on CS here, but could over subscription and saturday traffic be the issue?
 
If you mention Pay Servers, even obliquely, the Thread will be locked.
 
Try some FTA channels, if they are perfect, then it's to do with the decryption.

Yes it could definitely be the cause especially if you are on a commercial server.

As you have probably realised from Tivu's post discussion of any payserver problems whatsoever is strictly and absolutely forbidden here but I think its ok to say its common for the scumbag operators to run their test configs with few shares on them so they work properly, then give you access to grossly overload cards once they have your money :D
