Whenever I have the opportunity to get to Mitcham in Surrey to see my son and I travel on train and tube, I have a ten minute walk to his house from the tube stop. Every time I walk past this house I smile to ,myself and wonder just what this "plumber" was thinking about when he created this ermm detour

Presumably the alarm box on the other side was in the way for the drop and he didn't have permission (or couldn't be bothered!) to move it.

I'm guessing that it's going to a bathroom sink or the like, and instead of poking a hole in the wall on the other side of that little roof thing, they went the other side and an oops moment occurred realising their gaff, and thus they went to town creating that mess of pipes that wouldn't look out of place in a less developed country, pretty shoddy workmanship, couldn't honestly believe that whoever did it is proud of it...

WTF?? A couple of 45 degree elbows and they could have easily gone round the bottom of that alarm box and down the left hand side of that wall.

I try not to carry a pair of step ladders when travelling on the tube however even if your suggested scenario were true it is a porch gable, hardly an insurmountable problem to the average DIYer with a set of ladders and a bit of nowse.

If it's on a street, then google streetvoyeur, I mean streetview may have enough height to it to see, just a screenshot though, as not to offend the privacy of the people living there...

I wondered if there had been an outlet from the bay window originally where there looks to be a cable going in, now.

The average redneck DYI'er around here would have used a 3 inch hole saw and several dozen tubes of caulking to get the pipe through the peak and out to the left of the outlet, some would have even put in a sump with a pump and gone around the peak.

And you may need to invest in a travel drone, that way you could have got the shot at the right angle.

It could be a waste outlet from one of those macerator toilet things. The longer the tube, the better it is at clearing potential blockages.

Yes next time I am down I will walk past on the other side of the road, just in case there is a pressure build up



The suggested street view suggests they would have had to go through the apex beam, but no biggie I suspect
