Doesn't say anything about the receiver, you really want to make sure that it is flashable like the Technomate.

Buy cheap buy twice may apply.

Hey ChrisUK,

You might want to check the Technomate site for the differences between the different receivers they have.
http://www.technomate.com/products2.php

They have receivers with a built-in hard drive also... But keep in mind that not all models are patchable. The 1500CI is a GREAT choice:
Can be patched
Has a CI slot so you can add a CAM later on if needed.
Has a Card reader that when patched works as a "multi-CAM" like the Dragon CAM.
Good price

Good Luck and post your findings!

Can I ask where/how you patch these once the patch is outdated ?

Please excuse me if this is not allowed and delete this post.

You need an RS232 cable and a file from one of the sites listed in the sticky at the top of the Receiver Software section, I believe that alsat do a good patch. :)

Thanks once again guys - I've narrowed it down to 2 possibilities now & need your help once again (sorry! - but your really helping me understand this).

Deal 1 - £189 delivered

TM 1000 CI ( 1 Cam slot) patched + 80cm Fully motorised system + wall Mount , LNB , Motoeck Motor and 20 mt install kit

Deal 2 - £219 delivered

TM 1600 2 CI as above but with 88cm Triax dish

Will the extra 8cm dish help me recevie more channels ?? Will I need planning permission for this size dish ?? Also do you need a
satfinder or meter to find/lock onto the sats ??

Thanks once again guys !!

The extra 8cm will help on some sats and no planning required, 90cm is the limit if wall mounted.

Go for the bigger dish and possible a satfinder, only a few pounds and can save a lot of time. :)

If buying from Creative Satellite ...watch the delivery charges...they seem a little high .... i was looking into them recently..but was put off by the charges...They wanted £69 to deliver to Ireland..but only £25 to Deliver to USA...or £35 to Norway ... i think they have just made all these charges up..

Delivery is £19 - prices above are including delivery !

THe satfinder was £40 from Creative Sats - is this a reasonable price or are there any cheaper one's to buy out there ??

Sorry 4 all the q'a again - but I've had a thought !!

Currently there is an unused sky dish on the front of my house, with the lead going over my roof, down the rear of my house and intothe back wall next to the TV.

If I got my own dish (say 88cm), would I be able to reuse all the wiring (i.e. remove sky dish, connect my new one using the same wires) ?

It would save a lot of time & effort ??

Thanks again
