Hi guys,

I'm new here & just wanted pointing in the right direction to know all about what is required to get a set up together, i.e. dishes, LNB, cams, recievers etc.

Is there anywhere I can look to learn all of this - tried the search but it's coming up with 2 specific results, all above my station,

Thanks

Anything from the football to movies - I've been reading about the last few days, but I'm still unsure and was wondering if anyone knew where I could look to gain more info,

Cheers

www.digitalsat.co.uk + www.analoguesat.co.uk would be good places to start to at least give you the details of how to set up a basic Free-To-Air system :) Then once you've got the basics and a dish set up you can delve into the world of CAMS and free Pay tv ;)

No need to go anywhere else, all the information you need is on here, we have a huge knowledge base, stretching back several years. To decide what equipment you need, you need to establish in more detail what you want to receive, there are films and sport on most of the satellites on the Clarke Belt, some free to air (FTA) and some encrypted, some have been hacked and some require a subscription card, you need to be a little more specific..

A fairly simple motorised system with a flashable receiver can cost you as little as £250, you can also set it up yourself.

One of the best receivers around is the Dreambox, particularly with regard to flexibility as it can be hooked up with your home network, but it is not ideal for the absolute beginner. Receivers like the Technomate and Kaon are flashable and providing you can connect an RS232 cable, they are easy to use.

Have a look in the Sports section for what sport is available.

Is there a "for Sale" section of this site ? I might just get a cheap set up together until I can get my head around everything/get more $$. Anybody getting rid of anything or selling anything off cheaply ??

Cheers

it looks like - there are on EBay for £105 pre-patched

I take it then patching the receiver is simialr to having a cam ?

Can this be done periodically with the right software/connections or is it a one time update ?

No you need to do it when there is an update. Other wise they will go black.
Sometimes a patch might not be available for some time, It depends on what receiver you have. Although Tecnomates are quiet available atm.

They are an excellent business, I really would recommend buying from them, I bought a full system from them and they are excellent and very helpful.
