Advice Needed Possible issue with actuator

Hi,

A couple of months ago I've got a Geotrack TD18 actuator when I picked up an IRTE dish and since I'm not very familiar with actuators, I never got around to play around with it until now which I plan to use with the polar mount I'm plan to collect on Thursday.

However, when I connect it to the positioned, it seems to spin around rather than going up and down and I assume it's not normal. I've taken some pictures of the inside and made a video of it to see if you guys have a look and advice/help me with this.

I've seen other pictures of other actuators and they don't seem to have those capacitors shown on the second photo. I could be wrong as I don't know much about actuators.

Oh dear, you will have buggered the fully retract and full extend settings now in relation to the cam stops. Perhaps won't be much of a problem. I think the lower of the two cams is the fully retract setting, so you either need to hold the actuator arm to stop it spinning or bolt it to something but still alowing the in and out movement then fully retract to the arm using the power then manually twist the arm back until it won't twist any more then that should correct it.
Do not let the arm spin when you operate it.

Thank. The bottom part appears to be stuck in the same position as in the first photo. I know that I would need to unscrew the screw on top a bit and twist the top a bit to set the limits but cannot do so with the bottom one.

Yes, that is correct the top one adjusts how far out you want the actuator arm to go.
