hi new to this bought a dreambox 500s off ebay n its froze on the first image emailed the seller n hes told me to to power cycle off how do i do this

Disconnect it from the mains power.
You might want to let it sit for a while before turning it on again.

no came with image installed ordered an rs232 cable just wondered if theres any thing i can do in the meantime

I dont own a DM500 so dont know if there is a way of erasing flash without a null modem cable.

This is for the DM600, but you can give it a try. You have nothing to lose.
Also, be careful what image you load. If its a clone box, Gemini could brick it.
Are the LEDs flashing on the front of the box?
