A full dump of the ISE chip in the SA9234 PowerVu receiver has been posted here -

Go to Files, then FTA.

...and no, I don't know if this furthers the cause in opening up the system O-Ha

Probably not the time yet to dust my 9234 off...

Yes i think so.
Heres a great coincidence,I was in my friends tv shop yesterday when an american walks in with a faulty SA receiver. It had business receiver stamped on it,but my friend couldnt take it in because he was going away for a week so i didnt get a chance to get any info except that it was used for AFN.
Apparently the box have a common power supply failure.

yes your right there i use to have on for orbit, you can buy old one's off ebay and SA still make new one's

I also installed 2 or 3 SA D9234 in sainburys supermarkets for sainburys tv which use to (It still maybe broadcasting) broadcast on 16'e for two hours on every 2nd tuesday of the month,

Virgin mega stores also uses power vu but they use the Scientific Atlanta Power Vu D9223 receiver and asda stores also use the d9223 for asda fm

If you go to this link you will see info on the d9234 & d9223 & d9225

I cant quite understand this PowerVU thing. I would like to get Canaries tp88 11676 H 30deg. What do the Islanders use it seems to be a Retevisón package any advice would be welcome

It works this way what ever channel or package you want you must get the broadcaster to get the SA Powervu center to send a authorization signal to your receiver for that channel or package, That is the hard part:(

So for you to get canaries tp88 11.676h on hispasat you would have to have to rob a active receiver from a cable tv headend/transmitter site or start your own cable network,

I'm one of those posting at that forum about powervu.Look in the fta section.
I would advice to dust off your ird,and read the ISE chip, this will give you the provider keys.
Chances are,you might not need to be authorized,as long as the keys still valid in your ird, unless the provider changed them at some point.
The dissasembled eeprom/rom give you all you need to know about the system,in fact it is very simple, the main problem is it relies as much in private information as irdeto does (where you need keys from a subscription in order to stay up).
And another point is,to emulate without the ird,you might need to make a module to decrypt video using DES,since powervu, unlike most all other feeds out there,is not using CSA (still to be determined practically).

In the ROM dump available on that site, are the 'unique areas' mentioned in the eep code where the provider keys can be found on the ISE chip, or the unique address?

Thanks, Llew

Yes,all keys are in eeprom.(removed in the public dumps)
You can see right after $0541 tiers and keys starts.
Also, some others at the end of eeprom $10Ax.
Just dissasemble it and follow the code.

Thanks for that.
Is it possible to dump the file on an Atmel-based card e.g. Titanium and use as an OSE card?

Problem is the packet has an encryption flag that set to use the ISE or the OSE.
I don't think is easy enough to change this bit before they reach the ird.
The best bet would be to wire an ISO card socket off the contacts of the ISE socket in the board.
I could think this is possible.
It is actually done this way for american provider's embebed smart cards,to use an external card.

OK. Again, thanks for the info. Maybe the card facility is not generally used with this IRD anyway.

As far as I know,OSE have never been used.
I assume is one of the last resource to use when the system is compromised.
They can do lots of updates over the air to their irds before they get to use it,I believe.
