Hi, I had this dish given me a while back and ive not got round to taking it down, while I was passing today I had a quick look, and at a glance the motor is built into the mount ?

The dish is not very big probably an 80cm, but the motor looks a heavy duty bit of kit, whats your thoughts please, I will get some better pictures when I go and take it down in the next few days :).

Could the motor be big enough to drive the bookies dish if I get it ?

Strange about the thread views. Motor doesn't look particularly substantial.

might be the subject line - isn't particularly inspiring :) I can't judge the motor but the mounting looks like a bit of a beast.

I saw it yesterday but thought I was still pi**ed when I saw the pic. :dwinkies:

Agree with HB, so I've taken the liberty of putting a new spin on the Topic Title ;)

It's a bit hard to tell, but is it a (smallish!) prime focus dish? The LNB position looks unusual.

It is a prime focus dish for sure. (possibly rx/tx) The motor looks like one of these....

I had one of those motors (Jaeger 99G?) and it's, in my opinion, pants. I bought it with a view to replace my DiSEqC motor when it was exposed on top floor balcony but with the odd shape stub meant that my Penta hit the pole/motor when it got somewhere near 42E (my eastern view was to about 72E!) so it was back in the box. Also, it wasn't that accurate. I think a click on the Vbox equalled nearly a degree!

Thanks lads, the picture is from street view so its the best I could do, I did go and have a better look and the motor does look like the one that sonnetpete posted,

I presume the lnb will be c band ? and if the motor does work I can give c band a try on the on the easier birds to catch, and its free ive only got to take it down, I am hopefully picking it up at tea time so I will post some better pictures when I get her home :-).

Due to a picture, the lnb looks very long, reminds me of one of those old lnb's with polarizer (for H & V polarisation), therefore the motor also can be one of the older H-H motors. Don't know, can't say for sure. Do you know how old this setup is?

Hi mephisto, I am not sure how old the setup is but I will ask the chap when I pick it up, from what I can make out the dish was laid to rest pointing at 1W.

have you got a better idea of size? 80cm is on the (very) small size for C-band. Someone has already suggested a send-and-receive LNB....

hi -
from the feed- boss etc the dish looks like --- a 90 cm Precision --- (i have one)
the lnb i think is just a very old k/u one with a magnetic polariser .
the motor/ mount i don,t know - but it also looks pretty ancient- but may well renovate nicely -- some of the old motors are much better built than the modern ones
cheers --

Yeah it looks like an old Gardiner KU band LNB or something similar to me.

Thanks again, I will get it on the ground and take some proper pictures it could well be a 90cm its hard to tell looking up, I am just going to have my tea and I will pop and see if I can get it tonight :-).

It appears that mephisto in the feed sections is having the same problem, will someone look into it please, it appears to peeps that are spending time out and no one is viewing there hard work, thanks if this can be resolved :-)

Me too. I posted a thread a few days ago in dish setup section and I only had 1 view on it!

I'm not sure the view count is that accurate as I looked at this thread when it was suggesting 0 views too. Could be a caching issue or something.
