Premier League Italian rights

The crystal palace game on now is working fine here for me on one of them cards.

Interesting but hardly surprising as they know very well a lot of those cards are outside Italy & especially in the UK :D

That's great buddy, looks like you're one of the lucky ones. The forums here are buzzing with reports of Fox being blocked.

The crazy thing is that it's an 'across the board' blackout affecting even Italian users in Italy!

Interesting the card i have here now is one i bought last august and is about to expire soon. i will hold out to see if the games are going to be blocked on the cards, i was about to buy a new card for this year.

As I understand it, cards from one main UK importer has exclusive rights to Fox Sports, all other cards that were either bought earlier this year or from so called other importers don't have this exclusive agreement. I know that the cards I bought for my customers from this UK supplier are working fine on Fox Sports

That is interesting to know but how can you block other cards and have it only on some ?

As you can't sub direct to sky it from the uk, how can a importer of foreign sat cards have a exclusive agreement over all cards that come into the uk to not allow fox sports if you don't buy from them ?

I should be ok as I get mine direct from Italy.

With the greatest respect it's impossible for any UK importer to have exclusive rights to Fox Sports. It's part of the Sky Italia 'calcio' package and only meant to be viewed inside Italy, it most certainly does not have a license to sell it's service in the UK in direct competition with BSkyB and BT Sport.

With all due respect, they are working still while others have gone off.

I am not saying that your cards have gone off, I'm very happy for you and your customers that you have not been affected so far.
What I am saying is that the only legal distributors of prepaid Sky Italia cards are official Sky Centers here in Italy. And some cards bought from these official Sky centers are being blocked during Premier League games and some up to now are not.
It looks like it's cards bought in the last couple of months that are affected with expiry dates of July-September 2014
One respected moderator of an Italian forum is saying that the problem is a database issue at Sky Italia and that some cards were not correctly programmed.
Another guy rang Sky and was told that that they have a new directive in which it is stated that due to rights issues they can no longer transmit the Premier League live on prepaid cards.
We await more information.

Reports coming in from all over Europe of prepaid Sky Italia cards being blocked during Premier League games being shown on Fox Sports. A message appears on screen in Italian saying the programme is unavailable and the channel only comes back when the PL match ends.

When I bought my card from a well know satellite company in Leatherhead they said most Italia cards would be blocked during the epl and i fact their cards were OK for the epl and that seems to be the case

Any news, is it now the case the prepaid cards no longer get epl games on fox sport channel ?

I agree with satelliteray, I bought my prepaid sport and calcio card from an estabileshed company in bromley and Alex reassured me that EPL games would be 100% working on his cards, and that only 2 companies in the south east have fox sports fully working on their cards. Basically the market got flooded with cheapy cards from italian dealers especially on ebay which knew what they were selling but didnt care much, apart from filling their pockets, and only shown the fox sport because of the preview mode. now that this period has gone, viewing as gone as well.

Hello, where did you buy your card from and how much was it with both sport and calcio ?

not sure if if it's against forum rules to publish those info here ..

Not a good idea - but you could always PM wod in due course, when you have acquired the relevant privileges (Certainly a few more Posts required first).

The vast majority of this post is just simply not true. No-one knew in advance that these prepaid cards were going to be blocked for PL games so slagging off Ebay dealers saying they "knew what they were selling" is just unfair.
The "cheapy Italian cards" that you mention all come from official Sky Service Centers originally before popping up on Ebay. I called into my local center last week and was offered Sky TV + Calcio for 199 euro with an expiry date of 10 months time. I could easily have bought it and put it on Ebay myself. But there is no guarantee that Fox Sport would be working for PL games even with that card even though I have all the official Italian documents necessary and an Italian address.
The only cards guaranteed to work with Fox Sport right now are those with an official subscription to Sky Italia with Calcio pack.
There is a very high chance that the viewing card numbers of all prepaid cards have not yet been added to the database of cards being blocked which could explain why some have stopped working and some, as yet, have not.
We have to just wait and see.
