Hi all,

Am having a bugger of a problem with premiere, have checked and double checked all over and definately have the latest Key, but no joy.. And to make matters stranger, at the moment it claims "No Signal" this only applies to the prem channels, all else on 19.2 is as normal.
Would appreciate any ideas ...

Well, you are actually off the footprint for the Astra 1G and 1H transponders, so that could cause the 'no signal' problem.
Although I have found that I can still get channels way off the footprint on some satellites with my 90cm dish.
It may be that you are not quite following the arc accurately enough, so you can get the strong transponders but not the weak ones. This may have something to do with your pole not being vertical.:)

You may be able to do a temporary fix by adjusting the position of the satellite in the receiver, whilst looking for the best signal quality on one of the 1G or 1H transponders.

Unfortunately, all the while your motor is not set up right, you will continue to find these anomalies until you get it right.

Robbo:)

That makes it all the stanger then, as earlier in the day and on other occasions i have 98% quality on the premiere channels and it just reads Scrambled ....?? in fact right now (10.33 uk time) is showing 98% quality and scrambled, with the epg showing the listings etc...

The signal quality will not be constant, it is affected by the weather and the time of day (not sure why the time of day affects it). But having said that, a 98% quality is very high. Are you sure you haven't got a tree of which the branches are getting blown in the way. It is also possible that the dish is getting blown a little bit, and if it is not right on the centre of the beam, it will be more sensitive to movement.

The 'No signal' message means there is no signal, it is independent of whether the channel is scrambled or not.

Thats the confusion for me..Most of the time, icluding now...i have high signal quality for premiere channels, and despite having uptodate keys, they remain scrambled,...then last night when i posted they were reading no signal, because clearly there was no signal, don't know why, still weather and clear skies,
anyway signal now good but remains scrambled.
G&H sare strong, unlike L which breaks up..
i realise there is no link between signal reception and encryption.

Just checking:)

Did you manage to get hold of the latest firmware?

Also, I think the keys change a few times a day on that package. Well they used to, I haven't looked on there for ages.

Ok, just checked properly to be sure, and the transponders with 98% are
1G 11719 H,1G 11798 H, 1G 12031 H,

I have no readings for the other premiere transponders .... (contrary to my last statement!!)

So this said, i have signal, and plenty of it for most of the premiere channels..

Is there maybe a link between encryprion/Keys and the ability to receive from all premiere transmissions ? or am i making things up ?!

No, there is definitely not a link. As you have those transponders, you should at least be able to get the channels on those.

Most receivers need a null-modem cable. They are female on both ends. Is that what you have bought?

Hi Robbo...yes thats exactly what i need...a R232 cable female to female.....hence the NO! ....hope fully have it sorted in an hour or 2, and be able to watch the mighty Villa on premiere !!
