Problems with receiving ITV 1

That is north beam transponder, he needs to use 11973V for reliable reception.
 
i have tried every suggestion under the sun to no avail, this is a mystery. I cannot believe i have the same fault with different receivers and cards.
I just do not know what to do.

Well if it were me and I couldn't raise that transponder the first thing I would do is plug a meter in to the dish and make sure the signal is present on that frequency.
 
i am going back to uk in march, should i bring my original hd box with me and buy a £20.00 card through sky and get that paired up to the box?? i guess that will solve my issues. I have spoken to ralph today and he has told me its a card pairing issue. when i am in the uk i can manually tune the itv 11973 frequency and see if it works, if it does its a card problem.
 
FTV cards are not paired to boxes - once activated they can be used in any Sky receiver. So hes wrong on this point.

What do you get if you Add Channels (Services 4 4) and try to add the stuff on 11973V 27500 2/3?
 
Futher to my suggestion about noisy electronic emitters, do you have a wireless router close to your system?
 
hi

when i manually key in the frequency and find channels it finds the itv channels etc, i then press yellow to store, and then go to other channels and select the itv channel, then i get a blue screen quoting i need to ring sky to upgrade my subscription.
That is the same for 3 cards and receivers i have purchased from eb@y.

Hi yes i have a wireless router near the tv. about 1 ft away from the receiver.
 
Then turn it off and, if the problem disappears, find somewhere else to put it .......................

Yes it can although 11973 is outside the usual affected frequencies. The music channels on 11642 are the main ones normally nailed.

Interesting. That sounds very much like the card either isnt activated or has missed its stay alive signals.

These cards you have bought - they are white cards yes?

Umm if you are getting the ftv channels then they have to be white cards - the blue ones no longer decode.

Even if there were a card issue you would still be able to tune the channel and select it.
 
Just a left field idea - the receivers - they aint Thomsons or Grundigs by any chance are they??

Because it generates RF - albeit nominally at a frequency (2.4 GHz) that might not seem to relate to Ku Band: But interference normally exploits the downshifted satellite signals on the cable (Roughly 1 - 2 GHz). Add to the mix the cheap and nasty design of many Routers and you end up with harmonics, beats, hash and any other form of polluting crap you can think of.

It's very short range, though, so if it proves to be the culprit, shifting it even a little bit might solve the problem.

But you should also ensure any cable joints are properly screened, particularly if you use wallplates (Many are very poorly designed) as these are the weak points lacking in immunity to interference.
 
If it wasn't activated it would say "this card is not authorised". If it de-activated it would say "this the wrong card". Is your box on latest software ? go to system details and see what the operating system version you are on.
