Just Sharing This Project Clover

what is even this going to be used for?

Experimentation of course :D

Irradiating Sky "Engineers"?

But seriously, it's an experimental rig to create large dish performance using an array of smaller dishes. Fascinating stuff.
or you could just buy a bigger dish lol

Yes, where's the fun in going the easy route?

Why do easy as it possibly can be difficult.
The impossible does Trust1 immediately, miracles do Trust1 little longer.

.... It's in your blood. If you are a satellite enthusiast, with engineering / fabrication / brainstorming etc capabilities and urges, then it just comes natural to have a go at that "idea" that appeared in your mind .... you can't help it. Yeah, there's a 90% chance it will never fly but you get so much enjoyment out of the whole process that it really does not matter. Nice one Trust1.

Wow! the only issue I can see is the dishes will have to in Phase..otherwise it might cause all sorts of unwanted nasties, a bit like some TV aerial arrangements, but I could be talkin' out of my backside...

Yep ..sure I mentioned the phase issue ..
But IF he does manage to get all in phase ...it will work..

So ..mad I am indeed ..but no more mad than it's creator I 'trust' ?

Yesterday I finished some changes , made a 25 mm diameter bar through the centre of the cross fitting in a gearbox .
The gearbox is on top of the modded poleclamp and can be turned by a hand to turn each dish on top .
Also had to make a new elevation fine adjuster .
Now the quattro-feed is also connected by a M10 threaded rod to the top of the 25 mm bar .

i think if you use small prime focus dish as reflector will be better, because waveguide need straight feedhorn to work perfect way.
in your system 4 holes of feedhorn have to be face to needle of lnb sure it's difficult... but not impossible

Ever looked into a corotor ? the ku lnb is also around the corner .

there's difference between ku band and cband waveguide.
what i know when is feedhorn very long or there is contortion the signal becomes weak, however you have attempt
and you would tell us about result.

I am aware about the difference between C and Ku band wave guide .
But since a Ku lnb attached to a corotor is doing his job , I think there is a chance my quattro feed will work .

sure it'll works but Does will work a perfect way? i am eager for your experiment.

just to keep us occupied !

i hope you get the best result

i did not try ( array ) before but some others try it with bad result

i Believe its ( phase ... ) problem as expert says

so clearly its not about building a bigger dish

but is it necessary to have the 4 dishes in one mount

or you did it to use just one lnb + 4 feed because of the ( phase angle ) problem

I tried to do a some thing similar two years ago - but was for building a bigger PF dish from 3 offset 1m dish

i started with two offset - one lnb but could not get any improvement in signal

Monday when I'm back home from vacation , the unit is gonna setup again (when the weather is fine )

Happy to see someone crazy enough to make this setup, I had the same idea some years ago (Anyone tried to make BIG dish at home?), your lnb setup is quite interesting, if you get timing issues, please consider a reflector or a coneantenna/feedhorn.

Best regards and best of luck!
