Hi,

Where can i buy something to prevent rain water from sitting on the lnb face?

I have a channel master 1.8, and the feedhorn etc. Signal is ok in the rain, but i have to wipe water off the lnb to get it perfect. Once i wipe it the picture is fine, doesnt scramble up, however when its full of raindrops it makes the signal drop :(

Thank youu

You can buy LNB protectors. I think there another thread talking about it at the moment, I'll post the link if I can find it.

Have you tried spraying the LNB with WD40 or silicone spray?

Hi thanks for that, no i have not tried that?

I have just made 1 out of card for tonights football and its already upped my signal by 6/7% so it defo works. But its card, so not sure how long it will last lol.

I see you can get rain protection spray for the dishes to, would wd40 work like that?

WD40 will give a quick fix, silicone spray will last a little longer and has to be applied when the surface is dry for best results.

AS is right - try the home-made approach before spending money!

Even if it only lasts a year before the plastic disintegrates its cheap enough to replace every few months.

If you were in Spain, I would suggest using a solid white plastic bottle, which would shield the LNB from the baking sun as well as the 'monsoon' rain.

I would avoid using WD40 in case there is a special coating on the feedhorn cap which would be damaged by oil.

I have a proper CM lnb cover which came off my 60cm CM dish :D

The dish originally started out life as a BSB SMATV dish with a CM Circular polarity lnb for picking up signals off the old Marcopolo Satellites at 31w

Your more than welcome to it if you want it, The cover that is, not the dish :-sugar

hilarious as it may seem, what I'm interested in is its efficiency...looks don't matter.

I don't think Huevos was joking there. That cover is going to trap warm air inside it, warm up your LNB electronics and increase your LNB noise figure. Try cutting some vents in the plastic.

I would suggest cutting the bottom half of the bottle away as rain doesn't fall upwards.

you can't see it, but the bottle is cut beneath, otherwise its diameter wouldn't have allowed the LNB to penetrate it, so there's no problem with the overheating

I know, it's just that due to the bottle's colour everyone has the feeling that there's no room for air.
