Q: New Samsung 6900 3D Blu Ray Player & Pioneer VSX1018 AH-K ?

I have just ordered the new Samsung 6900 3D Blu Ray Player off Amazon, my question is (when I get it):
how do I connect it up to TV via the Pioneer VSX 1018 AH-K Amp/Receiver??

Will the HDMi v1.4 connection work?? If not what is the best way to connect it for best results in Video, Sound, and 3D?? And to be able to get the full HD, 3D and 7.1 surround sound experience without any loss or reduction in quality in both audio and visual??

also, just to add, the tv I have is the Samsung LE40C750 full HD 3D TV
 
If there is no way it would work cos of the player not having 2 hdmi outputs resulting in having to connect the player directly to the tv and losing out on HD audio, is there some sort of hdmi splitter where u connect the 1.4 hdmi lead from the player to a splitter and then 2 outputs on the other end of the splitter, connect another 1.4 hdmi from the splitter to the tv and then another hdmi lead (normal hdmi) going to the receiver,

Then that way it's only compromising the HD audio when watching 3D films, when watching normal blu ray films you still get the HD audio options...

Would this idea work??

Why the hell Samsung didn't include a 2nd hdmi output is a mystery to us all!! Samsung, your slacking with your products, careless planning costs people to look at other manufacturers, sounds like I may have to return the player (without opening the box)
 
Basically, I am wanting to be able to use my pioneer vsx-1018ah-k receiver even it's just to output the audio (Full HD audio options)

these are what I am trying to avoid doing:
sending my samsung 3D blu ray player back and going for another make, eg. Panasonic..
Replacing my pioneer receiver with a 3D receiver just so the 1.4 support is there.. (meself I think it's just an expensive con to change the receiver too..
Lose HD audio options..
Add more cables to the setup..


PLEASE.... Suggestions??

Grrrrrhh!!:mad:'O'-red Samsung, why have you done this, you have ended up COMPLETELY disrupting my setup, if a solution (apart from analogue audio or optical - lossy audio) isn't risen in this thread or anything else, I am going to have to go for the Panasonic 3D Blu Ray player and that means no Anynet+ functionality, I am very annoyed here!!! :mad:
 
If I understand correctly you want to feed the TV directly so that you can get 3D but also feed the Pioneer so that you can get 7.1 sound?

Is there a sound out on the back of the TV so that you can feed into the amplifier? My Philips has a coaxial connection (and analogue phonos) for just this purpose. It also ensures that any video delay caused by the procesing in the TV matches the audio.

I'm not saying don't use HDMI. You connect the Pioneer to the TV using an HDMI cable (not sure about the 1.4/1.3 downwards capability - it may not be a problem if the TV has a 1.4 input). Check that you get sound from the TV speakers and then look to see if there's a co-axial sound output. If you have one, connect this to the amplifier (it has two inputs according to a review I read) and go from there.

You need to check whether the output is optical or electrical and whether the amplifier is the same. If not you'll need a convertor. They aren't expensive.
 
A couple of Pioneer amps I have installed had a single HDMI input and two outputs.
 
I have come up with a solution, I just wait till the Samsung 7900 comes out, apparently it's got 2 hdmi outputs.

I can't try anything cos as soon as I open the box/packaging, I cannot return it unless it's faulty...

I would love to test it out but once opened there's no going back, I can't afford to lose £261 so I'm best waiting till the 7900 comes out, fair enough I might have to add another £100 or so but it's worth it to have HD audio options without paying bout £900 on top for a 3D compatible av receiver...

Hi I just tested out my Samsung 6900 3d Player into my Pioneer VSX1018AH, by setting 3d Mode to 3D on player (normal on "Auto"). NO GO, the Pioneer wont pass 3D pictures only 2d. for my 2 3D movies I use a HDMI cable direct to TV and the 7.1 Analog Output into Pioneer Direct in. But that 7.1 output is poor as the Subwoofer channel is way down on all the others (By 6900's Test Tone). I set the setting in Pioneer Direct In settings to +10DB on Sub channel, but still needs another 20DB. So HD sound is not as good as the Pioneer's internal decoding. So I just use my other Blu-ray for 2D movies and get best HD sound. Will save my pennys for a Panasonic Player with 2 HDMI outputs. So the Samsung 6900, (which was free by redemption here) will just get the job of upgrading my Family Room system. (the other Issue I have is if I plug the 6900 into Pioneer with HDMI with 6900 Audio set to Bitstream (Audiphile), the Pioneer doesnt Receive/decode Bitstream HD sound (DTS HD MA or Dolby TrueHD). Only get HD sound via PCM option in 6900). Just not good jumping in early for new technology (3D TV). Best Regards
