I am upgrading from a twin and reckon I want a quattro instead of a quad.

I read quattro are usually for a distribution system but my question is that can they just work same as quad with 4 feeds to either 4 receivers or 2 twin-pvrs ?

I am pretty sure I have read that it does work without the need for a switch.

I am looking at the Inverto Black Ultra IDLB-QUDL40-ULTRA-OPP Quad which I think has a switch built-in but not sure.

Can anyone confirm this will work before I purchase ?

No a quattro LNb works with a switch as the ports are fixed.

You need a quad.
 
Quattro's have 4 outlets BUT only one band/polarity per outlet.

Therfore if you connect a quattro to a receiver you will only get a quarter of the channels - eg the channels falling in one of the following::

low band horizontal
low band vertical
high band horizontal
high band vertical.
 
No, you need a quad, a quattro IS for multiswitches only.

With a quad each ouput is switchable, controlled by the receiver.

A quattro has 4 different ouputs, namely vertical high,vertical low, horizontal high, horizontal low. So each receiver would just get one band. The 4 ouputs of a quattro are fed into the multiswitch, which takes it orders from the connected receivers and supplies each one what it asked for, by switching in the appropriate input,based on the lnb supply voltage given and whether 22khz is present.

Use a quad!
