A PORTABLE toilet block from a Maryborough service station ended up in Hervey Bay today after floodwaters carried it down the swollen Mary River.

Local jet ski operators, Aquavue Watersports, came across the floating loo on a trip across to Fraser Island.

They reported the toilet was still usable, although the paper was wet.
 
At least 10 confirmed dead, and over 50 still missing in Toowoomba after yesterdays flash floods.

Yasi strikes land tonight as a category 5 cyclone


VERY DESTRUCTIVE winds with gusts up to 290 km/h are expected to develop between Cairns and Ingham during the next few hours as the cyclone approaches

Waves hit 9.5 metres on the coast a couple of hours ago, but there are no official measurement devices where Yasi hit land, the nearest is 120kms away.
