Hi all,

I have a few question about CS:-

1) Which is the best cccam serverct (Ubuntu, clarkeconnet etc) for SKY UK card, for both windows and linux pc?

2) Is it better to use a linux or a windows pc?

3) Do I need a Sky card reader if I have a Technomate 600 box? If yes, which is the best Sky UK card reader?

4) Which cccam should I use for the server to be reliable?

1. My experience is with Ubuntu, it runs perfectly. I don't think you can use windows at all.
2. I don't think you can use windows.
3. No idea about technomate boxes. Best reader for CCcam is the Smargo smartreader+
4. Always use the latest available version, currently 2.1.4
 
You can't share a card in a windows box at the moment.

You can connect to and view another card server (Linux, Dreambox etc) from a Windows PC using the hadu plugin which is compatible with ProgDVB and DVBViewer among others. I have used it and it works fine.

I have only ever used Omnikey Readers at the server end and they work fine too - a little trickier if you are setting it up in a DM or similar but fine in a Ubuntu box.
 
AS the O/P only mentioned using CCcam, I declined to mention the Omnikey reader because of it's incompatibility with CCcam.
 
i have been using ubuntu, with an omnikey reader (only cos i allready had 1... well 3...) using newcs to read card and cccam to host!

admitidlly it would be alot easier with smargo, but at the time i couldnt find a supplier and i was eager to get it running!

even using 2 programmes ie new cs and cccam ubuntu has not failed me! i have had cccam crash a couple of times, but when the server rebooted in the early hours it sorted itself!

ubuntu is definatally the easyest of the options to set up as it is more str8forward for us noobs to use compared to otherts and ubuntu has alot of support online in way of forums etc.

i have it on wifi in the shed and have just left it there and forgottern about it, its really reiable (corse now i said that its gonna crash big time now lol)
