again, that one is a north beam, and very tricky to receive 24/7 on smaller dishes...

my 1.8m dish just up the road just about keeps it in 24/7.... (but the Samsung sky hd box needs an attenuator to keep it in, the sky branded hd box does not).
but 100kms north (just above Valencia, I have a 90x100cm dish that gets that north ream 24/7.... just goes to show how much it varies along the cost...

so attenuators do help a tad, but does not make the problem go away, it is simply the signal in the afternoon for that beam is so weak in this area...

if you want to get those channels better, then you will have to wait until it moves from the 2a north beam...
Thanks for that - looks like its best to sit this one out then see what will be.

I still would value your opinión on why the Invacom does not seem to like Sky news and pick here in Javea yet the old Cambridge is showing 100% -ss and sq yet in Valencia on a 2.4m dish I am using another invacom which you fittted and have no problems apart from "pick" where I use an attenuator on the Humax but nothing on the Manhatten or two Pace 2600s.

Probably as simple as a bad LNB.....Sly news and pick are on the same frequency,
they are on a "high vertical" frequency ... so check it out with another high vertical channel like CNN or Travel Channel.... (there are loads more channels , mainly the free cheap shopping and foreign channels on HV) and that will confirm if that frequency group on the LNB has failed....which will be why those channels are causing you problems.

Many Thanks - I will bring a new LNB next time I am down here. As I don´t need a twin right now I will try the Inverto as it is pretty cheap and if all still OK after 2G is settled in then will go for a new Inverto twin or quad. Meanwhile the old Cambridge is doing pretty well so I hope a newer LNB will improve things further.

Would strongly advise against getting the Inverto Black Ultra Twin. Consensus on this Forum is that it's a real dog!! Best Inverto for the fringes by a long way is the Black Ultra Single, followed by the Black Ultra Quad.

I have personal experience of the following LNBs:

Inverto BU Single - excellent.
Inverto BU Quad - good.
Opticum 3711 - a tad better than the Inverto BU Quad.
MTI Hiline Quad - a bit down on the Inverto BU Quad.
Goobay Quad - my sample had very erratic S/N across the frequency band. Varied between good and no lock-on at all.
Grundig Twin and Quad - both very average.

I have found the BUQuad to be not as good as some other quads... like the GI Quad...
Channels on the BUQ on my 80cm dish break up a lot, the GIQ all channels come in as they should.

Actually I made a mistake - I had meant to say if all goes well would get a new Invacom - not Inverto! Anyway the advice which followed is of great value and interest so thanks to you all.

Well I'm now back in Javea and have swapped the old Cambridge LNB for a new Inverto Black Pro single. Seems to work fine - no issues at all with any channel so far and higher quality readings than the Cambridge although not always higher SS. One little thing is bothering me, the connection socket on the Inverto has no shoulder to push the cable boot to and makes me a little concerned about water ingress to the cable via the thread - anyone else dealt with this? was thinking to put a smear of silicone over the joint. Also the holes in the Tagra feed-horn are not an exact match for the new LNB and I had to elongate the feed-horn holes very slightly to get them to line up Consequently I have only used two bolts to connect the feed-horn to the LNB although they seem plenty adequate enough as the Inverto is very light.

Some self amalgamating tape will solve any weatherproofing problem.

Thanks - would you put that on or under the boot? I presume under! And any supplier know in Javea?

Inverto ultra blacks have a plastic pull down piece, that you pull down to protect the connections... so no need for rubber boots or tape...

And it needs to be pulled down squarely - tugging on one side will jam it.

I think maybe this is not an "Ultra" then - On the box is says "Black Pro" and I can't see anywhere for a pull down sleeve. Maybe the pictures below says it better. Anyway as it rained last night I need to make sure this is watertight - The boot fits very well but I think a bit of proper self amalgamating tape would make it more secure - where in Javea can I get some?

Do not think the C120 has the sleeve cover but the Quad does.

Seems no - anyway now found some tape so will first check the f plug is really secure, then replace the boot, then ensure skew has not changed with the Inverto LNB as I have put it in exactly the same position as the old Cambridge, then I will tape over the top of the boot and shoulder on the lnb to ensure water tightness. Then hope that will be good for a few years :)

That Inverto is the cheap option for C120. Nothing special about it, but will be fine if the dish is up to it, if you are looking to do it on the cheap.

Thanks for all the info folks - it seems I may have misunderstood some previous posts advising me which LNB to get as I have got an Inverto Black Pro, but is seems I should have got the "black ultra" . Nevertheless it seems to be working pretty well with a Humax Foxsat - good SS and SQ showing from the box (I know thats not the best way to tell but its all I have) and no isues with PICK as I had with the old Invacom and with the Cambridge LNB. So for the moment it will do - but if I ever ned more feeds, then which LNB do I go for? - my preference has always been the Invacom - but unless there is something much better these days I don't see a need to change.

Finally, I noted during this little exercise that the old Tagra feedhorn hasi ts fixing holes slightly different from the modern LNBs - this meant I had to elongate the holes in the feedhorn in order for the bolts to match the threaded new LNB holes - Why and when and how did the C120 format change?

Not sure when or why but every so often I have an old feed that won't match and have to drill the holes out a bit bigger.

As a "SC " you should know the answer to that question! With regard to Pick and Sky News etc, we are back to our old problem which we have met on other threads. STRONGEST SIGNAL OVERLOADS BOX! We are not talking s/n db ratio, but pure dBuV signal input.

I don't have issues with overload any more - I thought we dealt with that ages ago! And yes I do have an attenuator. Regarding the C120 feed-horn holes - As Huevos doesn't seem to know I am not sure why you think I should - but as you seem to know when and why things changed please enlighten us.

2006 C120 " accord " All manufacturers agreed to use 4 mm thread with 7 mm head to accommodate all C120 LNB's with equal spacing. Not sure why, but I'm not a SC, just a wizard
