OK, I made that up! I don´t have a clue either, but judging by the link I found ( posted above ) it would appear there a lot of standards
 
Aggg - back in Javea again and now no Pick or Sky News again - so am back to the same situation I was in with the old Cambridge and Invacom LNBs. I have tried fitting the attenuator as well and set it to max attenuation but still no difference at the moment on these two channels - everything else seems to be fine though. Really odd as when here last time I got 100% SS and SQ from these channels. However as I am getting good SS and SQ for all rest of the SD and HD Freesat channels I am not going to do much now until the renting season is over in September. What we have got is good enough for the guests and far more that we were getting from the rebroadcast system. I will reappear on this thread then no doubt!
 
You could try taping a 6cm cocktail umbrella half way down the left hand feedhorn support arm, this should reduce the signal on 12207V without affecting the 22000 H signals for CH4 BBC CH5 etc.

Or maybe you could leave if for now, as you said!

You could always try updating Sky News and Pick Tv to the correct fec settings.

Well I have just done a freesat retune on the Humax box but its still the same. Haven't tried Brian's trick though! I did try blocking some of the dish off to reduce the signal a bit more but that didn't make any difference either. I wish I had bought the little Manhatten down to see if that fared any better! - perhaps in September.
 
A thought occurred to me that the box may not be updating so I did a factory reset and retuned from scratch - and hey presto - its working now!! Coincidence or real issue solved ? We will no doubt find out in time.
 
The cocktail umbrella would not have worked anyway. for that problem you need a hanging monkey!

He he - I was not about to try it anyway - sounded good though... maybe a few would have tired it - as for the monkey, I would be worried about it bending the LNB arms so will give that a miss as well!!

But seriously folks - thanks for all your input - and Huevos has actually pointed me in the right direction.

Yes of course you were right - but why did the box need resetting to factory condition? - I thought that freesat boxes updated themselves. Normally when things change I don't have to do anything.

Freesat boxes normally update themselves at approx 4 in the morning when changes are made, but many have to be on standby, not " on " to do this. Boxes that are not powered up for a length of time can also miss updates.
I suspect that by going to default settings the box has checked for updated software release and found the latest version with new FEC codes. My Sagemcom updated the latest Freesat software last week, when in standby.

My box was on standby all night and the next day so should have reset itself - BUT I then even did a manual retune which also did not sort the problem. I then when I saw Huevos's comments which made me think that the update had not worked I tried the factory reset- and then that did work. SO it means that for some reason these particular channels did not update themselves but were tuneable only when the box was effectivly wiped and rescanned - but why?

As stated, most Freesat only receive updates at " silly o´clock " when in standby mode. A re-scan on existing incorrect software would produce no change. Only if the box correctly received the updated information could it see the FEC changes, thus " miraculously making Pick re-appear "
The Sagemcom I have is limited in it´s " non Freesat search ". It only allows to search on FEC 2/3. I e-mailed Sagemcom about this and was told, that´s how it is! It would appear they don´t care about the box´s limitation.
With regard to the why " these particular channels did not update themselves but were tuneable only when the box was effectivly wiped and rescanned " , back to software version. I assume the Humax, loading from default, checked for software updates in background, updated, then re-scanned, producing the correct result.
If this is not the answer, I believe you may have a poltergeist in the Humax, very painful and possibly expensive to fix!

FEC codes have got nothing to do with software updates. That info comes from the DVB tables on every Freesat transponder.
