Guys,

I am using VIX 2.2 image with my Vu+ Uno and I am having issues viewing a single channel. Can someone with a Vu+ receiver and access to Platforma DV package on Eurobird 9e please test RBK TV for me (12207 H 27500-2/3 MPEG-4 DVB-S2 8PSK)? For some reason, I don't get a picture on this channel - only sound. The channel is encrypted but this is NOT the issue as I am using my official Platforma card with it. This happens with ALL CAMS, so I don't think it's a problem with that. I tried rescanning the channel but no joy. I don't have this issue on any other channel on the same transponder.

So, I thought I'd try to view the stream on my PC if the Uno wouldn't show it and ... it worked! What's even more strange, once I start streaming, the video also appears on TV.

A quick work around I've found for this is to start timeshift and then stop it. When stopping it and it comes back to "live" broadcast, the picture appears. I don't know if this is image related or something else....

One other thing I noticed on Platforma DV only, is that the picture takes a few seconds to appear after the sound is first heard - almost like the video is being buffered. Both, audio and video are encrypted on this channel, so again, this is not the same as the decryption delay you normally get. I can upload a video of what happens if this helps?

The only difference with this package is that all channels, even SD ones, are MPEG-4 as opposed to the usual MPEG-2. I don't have this sound-first, picture-a-few-seconds-later problem on any other channel I receive, even the Platforma HD ones, which are also in MPEG-4.

Any ideas?

Thanks
CJ

I've noticed something similar before, although in my case it was Russia 1, and it would show the picture for a few seconds and then freeze (the sound would carry on fine.) Other SD MPEG4 stuff that I have seen on other platforms has been fine; maybe there's something a bit out of the ordinary with the Platforma DV encoding?

Very strange, I don't have problems on Russia 1. Was that on the Vu+ Duo box? I had no problems on the clone DM800HD one.

Erm... well, whatever drivers are in VIX 2.2 image. Got the box from World of Sat and they already put the FPGA upgrade on.

Oh! Lovely... didn't know that.

Do I need to install original image to perform FPGA upgrade?

I think it will b easier as it has the plugin for it, also Black Hole Images have the plugin.
Have you found the drivers OK ?

Only looked for the FPGA upgrade so far. I don't have the plug-in, though.

Do I need to install the drivers manually or can I simply do an online upgrade?

Thanks! Will give it a go and see what it fixes.

Is it just a matter of sticking them in /lib folder?

First of all make a backup copy of the corrent drivers, copy all the files in

/lib/modules/2.6.18-7.3/extra

When new drivers comes out, take tar.gz drivers file and unzip all files in
/lib/modules/2.6.18-7.3/extra
and replace old drivers.
Than reboot your dec, that's all.

If image reboots correctly new drivers are compatible with your image, if image doesn't start it means that the drivers are not compatible and you have to wait for a img upgrade.
In this case to go back to old drivers, just connect with ftp and copy the drivers you backup before to:
/lib/modules/2.6.18-7.3/extra

Thanks to my friend Tamaki for the instruction.

Unfortunately, this didn't work. I put the new files in and, although the box booted up OK, it wouldn't display picture or sound. Had to revert to old files.

Guess I'll wait for the VIX update.

Or you could try Black Hole Image.

I could, but I really like the VIX one and gotten quite used to it. One missing channel isn't enough to convince me :)

Hey sonic, I (finally) upgraded FPGA to the latest version as well as VIX 2.3 but the problem remains.

I also now have the additional issue of AAC audio not playing on Meo TV channels on 30W (picture is fine). This was even before the upgrade...

Any ideas?

You need to use Cccam 2.2.1 for the audio with meo.

Sorry for the offtop!
Captain Jack, if 80-90cm no motor dish will be enough for Eurobird 9a only? Or it is better to get 1m? And any LNB will be ok or can you recommend any particular brand/model?
Thanks
Max
