Please refer to the following thread on another forum for details. Please note that the open discussion of setting up cs might deprive us from ever seeing this Cam, so it might be an idea for the administrators of this forum to create a closed membership, for invited/recommended members only, where these things are discussed, just a recommendation, and remove it from the open forum.

This would be in the interest of the true hobbiests, rather than those that just wish to watch subscription TV for free or even make money out of it, like subscription servers.

We wont go down the "premium membership" route - that leads to trouble.

Folk in such groups expect more leeway in what they can discuss. Which we cant/wont allow.

Our rules are very clear and we expect all our members to abide by them, from the newest member of the forum right up to the admins. They are there to protect the long term future of the forum

If our rules end up forbidding discussion of some aspects of the hobby then so be it - plenty of other subjects are off limits for one reason or another..

Can't access that thread.

Unfortunately it seems the thread has been removed. It outlined the reasons for not releasing the current cam that is working for sly italy. Top of the list was that the use has become too general and not as a hobby but to avoid paying subs. Next is the fact that that it only resolved the first phase of the new encryption; there are 2 more phases that can be enabled, complicating decryption quite significantly. Currently only the first level is used in Italy. Furthermore the visibilty and use of the cams have become too widespread and the developers are thinking of going underground rather than risk being prosecuted.

So, whereas I understand the forum not wanting a 2 tier membership, the choice ends up being ours on whether these developers will continue to develop and/or release the cams.
I have the text of the post (still up in the browser) and can copy it here, but I do not want to commit plagiarism or break the forum rules.

Following is bits of it that should not trangress forum rules:
There has been quite a lot of interest in the changed CAM crypt that Sly Italia recently started using.
Here we will detail what will be happening in the upcoming weeks.

Today we will just start with some simple facts:

A working solution exists.

You may ask why the solution has not been made public yet and here are some of the reasons for that:

1. All the whining in various forums has not encouraged a public release.

2. It was expected that Sly UK would have implemented the same counter measure and there was no reason to impact those plans.

3. The counter measure opens up for 3 different post processing modes where only the first one has been put to use.

C&P

The whining bit is especially relevant, it is driving most of the old skool into the underground..............

Right, I'm with yer now. I read it yesterday.

I read that myself a few nights back but seems you need superr-duper status to access it now. I did notice on the site that aswell as a claimed fix for Qbox there is a download claiming a fix for Vantage HD now.

Check your boxes lads MY SKY ITALY SHARE IS WORKING

Some peops have got hold of the new cam, but it is not bullet proof yet.

Accept the conditions and then register

Sod that. I dont want to register with another forum - I get almost everything I want right here.

as it says above, apparently thats what we should be using!
I've jusy got hold of it but gonna give it a go tomorrow now

I've been a long time sharer since when only Gbox was around and it was totally underground and banned everywhere.
There was never any talk of it and the info was passed around between users in PM's and never in open forums.

Then my foreign subscription I was paying for ended I took another look at the sharing scene to work out what subs were most in demand to help with my next choice and was totally amazed at how open everything was and how blatant things have become.

Things obviously need to calm down again but having private releases will never work in this hobby. What we need is closed source cams which only share if there is a working local card in the box.

Nice to see that the dev's have cracked Sky IT (part 1).

i totally agree with this outlook!

as we speak there is even a dreambox for sale on ebay with a 'free c line!!'

how blatent is that!!!

i started with just a small interest in satellite viewing, but now spend more time
buggeringing around with my box and pc than i do actually watching the fruits of it all!

i feel its all going the way of big brother stepping in!

wouldnt be surprised if your isp will be monitored soon for activity signitures! :(

bloody hope not as this is fast becoming an interesting hobby!!!

just my 2 cents lol
