My Satellite Setup
Dreambox 7020Si receiver, PLi image loaded and Irdeto and Viaccess cards installed. Dishes for Nilesat + Hotbird with lnb's for BADR and Eurobird 9

I need a receiver with 2 card slots to access
ADD Universe - Irdeto on Nilesat
BBC Prime - Viaccess 2.5 on Hotbird.

Must include software decryption as well. :)

What do you recommend?

At present I have a Starsat X5300CU with one slot

Thanks

I would use Dreambox 7020S.
Not sure what do you mean by software decryption, but if this is something that Starsat X5300CU can do, then why not buy another similar box to accommodate the 2nd smartcard? Might be cheaper.
I am assuming that you have 2 separate LNBs and two cable runs.

Software decryption.
The Starsat has codes loaded to allow viewing of encrypted channels
without the need to insert a card....

OK. But still it has a card slot.
Just make sure that it can support Viaccess 2.5 and Irdeto.
How much does it cost?

I am still searching.

Thanks for the suggestion of the Dreambox 7020S, but that is more than I really plan to spend.

I have just tried the OPENBOX X-810 ($110) which has two card slots and supports the Irdeto and Viaccess cards that I have.

One card slot does not recognise the cards, saying "no card inserted".
That can probably be fixed.

However there is no facility for changing channels to a time schedule,
only a very basic "turn on" timer.:-doh! So that is going back to the shop.

Timer control is real MUST for me as I rarely watch TV live, relying on my Pioneer DVR 720H for recording to watch at my leisure.
Does the Dreambox support timer control?

My Dreambox 7000S (older model before 7020S), with Gemini image, has a great timer.
It will switch channels, put the box in standby or shut it down.
I also have a Pioneer DVR, so I know that this would be a good solution for you. You will need to set the DVR timer according to the Dreambox timer settings.
Where abouts in the ME are you?

Maybe Openbox 770 can meet your demand with two slots.

Does the Openbox 770 have a timer for changing channels to a schedule???

I have tried the Openbox 810, with two slots and it is fine for reception,
but there is NO timer to select channels for recording purposes.

My Nokia 9800S has viaccess embedded and a CI slot.
It has an excellent timer.
If you can get hold of a secondhand one, with the latest firmware, it could be a good solution.
But the zapping is too slow.

Can anyone point me to a review of the X-730PVR, X-750PVR, X-770PVR machines?

Thanks

Remember I do need 2 card slots, or an adapter to plug 2 cards into one slot??
If such a thing exists??
