2. Sky dish 85 cm

Hello all,
i'm new to this forum, but have read many messages that have been of help to me. But, now i seem to have a real problem and hope
that somehere can help?
I have received Sky for a few years, without too much problem here in Mid-Germany. I never really received all the channes that it
seemed i should receive (based on internet readings), however we did receive BBC1, etc.
Some months ago i noticed that from time to time the receiver said there was no satellite signal, so we could not receive anything.
I thought at that point that maybe the alignment was "going off", and tried playing withe dish, but no luck. In any case, this
only happened sometimes, so it was not much of a pain.
Then a few weeks ago, the signal just completely went, and no adusting made any difference. I left if for a while, and now since
i've got some time i'm playing with it.
I've how tried everything! Changed to a new LNB, adjusted the dish in every possible position. Played with entering different
transpoders, etc. etc.
I'm at the end of my "magic" and have no further ideas of what to try! However, i really do want to receive sky!
So, does anyone have any tips they can give me? I'm will to try anythng at this point!
Below are some basic parameters of my system for background ......
Please help if anyone can!!
thanks!
Some background to my equipment:
Receiver: Pace 1.3Z25
EPG version: 3.3b.5
Version: 9F0306
oper sys: 1.2S4FB
LNB settings:
9.75/10.60
22KHz: ON
Transp: Freq: 11.739
(but, i've tried changing this to various ones, but it keeps coming back to this frequency, i presume this means i can still get
the north beam?)
symbol rate: 27.5
FEC: 2/3

dish: approx 82cm

If you have tried everthing else, then the digibox is suspect. PSU failure / broken tuner / etc. Can you borrow a digibox from a friend to test your system.?

I was afraid that this might be an issue, but have been in "denial state", as this is the only box i have and cannot borrow one from anyone else :(

Any way of actually testing the box to see if it really is crap?

That is a good idea, did not think of that. I'll be in the UK again in a few weeks and can try it on a friend's system. thanks!

I presume the settings that i listed are Ok? I did not change any of them, so these should not be an issue.
I've also ordered one of these digisat sat finders. This should help me at least ensure that the disk is set properly.

where exactly in mid-Germany are you? I believe the signal tails off going east quite rapidly.

And you could also get a standard sat box and check BBC/ITV with the rest of your kit....

Yes, however this setup worked for a few years, without problems, here in Cologne. Unless anything has changed on the Sky side this should still work, right?

What do you mean a normal sat receiver? One for Hotbird for example, to test the LNB?

I had a problem recently there was a tiny bit of water or dampness in the
coax I cut off 6 inches or so and it works again I was slowly getting
a weaker signal. I thought the dish had moved and tried every thing as well.
It wont hurt to try.

yes, use the standard sat box and connect to 28e with it...then see if you have problems on that box with those channels (esp. Beeb)

Hi

I'm in Frankfurt...also with a PACE box. A few weeks a go there was a marked deteriation in the reception. However, I also have a Grundig box fed from the same dish and that was working fine. Last week suddenly the PACE box started working again without problem. My wife seems to remember the same thing happening last year about the same time of year. It was something to do with the satellites being realigned and therefore we go a worse signal for a few days. The Gundig which has a better tuner did not mind but the PACE did...
