Receiving Sky On Demand in Spain

You need a new router, such as WRT54GL, fitted with a VPN, and connected to your broadband primary router via an ethernet cable,
then another ethernet cable from the WRT54GL to your SKY+HD box. It MUST be a later version of SKY+HD box, e.g. Thomsons do not work on the "On Demand" service.

Hi there,
As above, I'm new to the forum having been searching around for a solution to my problem.
I also live in Spain and have a SKY HD+ subscription.
When Sky went over from Anytime to On Demand I sought a solution around the IP in a foreign country problem.
I get my internet via a microwave receiver on the roof down to a Buffalo Airstation G54 wireless router.
Using Powerline Adapters I can go from my router to the STB but although I get the full menu as soon as I select something I get the "You're in another country" blurb.
I spoke to my ISP, but he wont help hide my IP. (I use Expat Shield on my lap top - no probs there!)
Is there a way to go through my lap top to the STB and through Expat Shield or must the STB connect directly to the router.
If that is the case can you tell me how to hide my ip address at my router?
I guess, ideally, I would like to connect direct to my router behind a VPN but how can I do that with this set up?

Thanks in anticipation for any help/suggestions forth coming.

You need to set a vpn up on the router.

Imagine the router as a gateway - all internet traffic must go through the gateway in and out. If the router is set up right the Sky box will think you are in the UK & away you go :)

I havent got the faintest idea!

There will be online guides though, and possibly a wizard if you log into the router via the admin panel
 
Okay, well thanks for the info anyway. I hope I can find an idiots guide.
I guess there must be hundreds if not thousands in my position.
Looking into how to get into my routers admin panel - I seem to remember putting the IP address or something into my browser many moons ago, when last I looked into this!

yup - put the ip into your address bar, something like 192.168.0.1, and then you will be prompted for the username & password.
