Reception problem - only some channels

Having been away for 10 days and switching my Pace box off, when I powered it on yesterday I had a picture for a few minutes and then it started to break up. I now have NO signal and NO lock on any channel with the default UK transponder.

Im based in south france but it was working very nicely before the 10th April.

I thought no problem I have an old grundig box, so I plugged that in and immediately got lock on the default transponder 11.778 (if I remember correctly), ch5 fine, 617 (tiny pop for my kids) picture fine, however BBC,ITV1,CH4 all are breaking up and unwatchable. EPG 3.7.6 and 1.2S4FJ. Lock network id 0002, stream 07D4.

I have switched LNB output to the non-used connection, with out avail. Signal strength is about 70% with quality moving between 50-70%, never been a problem before except in heavy rain.

Any ideas? I find it strange that 2 boxes would die/semi-die at the same time. Am hoping to use someone elses dish to check my box. Have sky changed something as I note Im not the only person to note a sudden difference over the last 10 days.

Could there have been strong winds whilst you were away that have moved the dish slightly? Alternatively I can only suggest your lnb may be at fault and it is certainly the cheapest part to get hold of. Also check to make sure the cable has not been damaged and water has not ingressed into the cable. Failing all that as you say try your stb on a known good dish/lnb combination
 
DocG, sounds like you have a possible dish alignment issue dropping out on 2d. Astra 2d beam will of course be weaker in your region with slight mis-alignment showing up as signal blocking on the channels mentioned. As suggested try your box on another known working system first.
 
I think sky must be messing about as it has had no change since the other day. I tried to better align the dish but found I couldnt improve it.

This morning no signal on any channel apparently, couldnt explain to my wife how to unplug from the wall to check that...

When I get home, unplugged it and left for a few minutes, turned on again and guess what all works, including BBC etc. Thanks sky, have had similar before for half a day, but never for 4 days.
