Assuming that there is a DVD player in your PC and the DVD disc is finalized, then just use Nero DVD player (called Nero Showtime) and then capture whatever you want. (as pictures)
There is a Nero 8 15 days evaluation software.
You don't need a capture card for that.
If you don't have a DVD player in your PC, then it is more complicated.

If you are trying to make video clips, then use Nero Vision.
If your DVD disc is copyright protected, then it is more complicated.
Just give us some more information and we will try to guide you.

Hello just downloaded nero showtime I can't see how you make clips from useing your dvd rom? my be you could tell me more
Thanks

I just note that you say capture picture clips is not what I want

Before you do that, remember that if the DVD is copyrighted, the capture card will not do the capturing.
If you find it so difficult to answer few basic questions, then I can't help you anymore.

Hang on, no need to be rude to me I trying understand your basic questions and find an answer'O'-red

HB13DISH is not being rude, but stating a fact.:-Nooo

As there is more to it if the DVD is copy protected, your capture card will detect the copy protection and not give you the video.
