I have recently bought the Humax Foxsat HDR to replace my sky box. I was told that it was easy to set up just unplug the sky box and replace with the Humax. All seemed to be going well for a few days, however i have found that when recording a programme i can nt watch any other channels. Have you any suggestions what i should do so that i can record and watch as is intended, Thanks

Do you have two feeds from the dish to the Humax?

I mean that there are two feeds not thread.

Maybe try a factory reset, as it seems that the receiver is not recognising that it has them both.

If that is exactly what you did then the previous owner only had a single connecion to the satellite dish. If you have two connections then, as Robbo says, you have to do fresh install in order for the box to recognise here are two feeds.

Hi,

Thanks for info, I will try this out and get back with the results.

I have done factory reset. It recognises the satalitte shows how it should be attached to the Humax Box, which is correct. It does however put in brackets (one cable). Does this therefore mean that there is no recognition with both the cables?

Yes, unfortunately that's correct.

When you do the full install you have to put in a postcode. During this process the box checks to see whether there is a single or double connection. If you're sure that both feeds used to work on the $ly+ box then check the connections onto the Humax again.

If the plugs are the screw-on type then it's very possible that, as you were tightening them onto the Humax, you were also unscrewing them from the cable. Also, check that you have put the two leads onto LNB1-in and LNB2-in and have not used the LNB1-out connection by mistake.

It seems so .................... this could be due to a number of things, but we'll go with the simplest first:

It's easy to screw on the connectors and yet make poor contact or even short circuit the flimsy inner bit by missing the little hole in the socket.

Take the feeds off one at a time and inspect them to see if they look ok, then carefully re-attach them, carrying out another Factory reset.

Maybe you could reconnect them to the Sky box first, just to make sure that that works still with those same two feeds?

Don't worry, this is certain to be something simple.

Hi,
Swopped everything round, did nt work, so i know that i have set it up correctly. Tried out the recording still not working., It did work briefly a few days ago, any other ideas out there.

Are you now saying that the recording feature isn't working at all?

Have you specifically checked for the little "gotchas" that Tivu and have suggested? Do you still have the $ly+ box to compare with?

It will record only one programme and you can not watch any other channel, checked all the sockets done factory reset after i had swopped them round.

And the $ly+ box for comparison?

Are you sure it's the full reset you're doing? The one where you have to input a postcode?

Sounds like time to get it replaced under Warranty.

Tivù may well be correct. Try this first to eliminate as much as possible (in the absence of the $ly+ box to compare against).

Connect just one of the satellite feeds to LNB1-in and do a full reset. Then try the other satellite feed on LNB1-in and do a full reset. If both of these carry through (obviously just showing a single input) then both feeds are working. If you have a short lead to connect LNB1-out to LNB2-in for both tests then this would be an advantage.

Thanks, i will try this later and get back with whatever the result is.

One final suggestion before possibly returning it: Dio you have a friend/neighbour with Sky+/Freesat so that you can check whether or not it is indeed a faulty box or if there is a connector/cable etc. issue at your end?

hI,

Switched all the cables round found out which one works etc. First time i tried a recording the words LNB Short came up whilst the channel was recording. However, now it is not showing that and will only show the channel recording once again. I think we still have the sky box. with that box there was another cable in the back which does not show as if it is needed on the Humax, or is it. Any ideas please
