How are files recorded on the internal harddisk of the relook 400s ?
Which format?
In a single large file (>1GB) or in multiple 1000MB files?
Can you transfer these files to a pc? using ftp? samba?
how fast? (over 8Mbytes/s?)

Can these files be played back with mplayer?
are these recordings free from errors? do you notice any "hickups"?

thanks.

will try lateron today and let you know

i recorded a movie of ta*uilla last night. the file is one large 3.5gb file which can be accessed via ftp from the relook hard drive. now i thought i had a gigabit network but my wireless router is only 10/100. it transferred the file to my pc @ 1100 kb per second.

as far as playback is concerned via the relook hd it is glich free throughout the movie.

thanks.

you say the max speed is 1100kbytes/s ?
that's horrible... that's like usb1.1 ....
I was expecting at least a transfer rate of 5.5Mbytes/s...

are there any setting that you can set, to enhance this?

the ethernet interface is supposed to be 10/100. my router is a netgear wireless, with 4 wired ports (10/100). my relook is hardwired. now i was trying to download from the relook to my laptop which is wireless, that might make a difference. i will try downloading to my big PC tonight to see if the speed is better.

as far as enhance the speed i dont know. there is a network option in the relook user panel but it only allows for specifing an ip address and residential gateway address as well as DNS servers.

so...... ?
did you test it?
how fast was the "wired" transfer?

I'm getting 4-5mb/s with Linksys wrt54g .

I only got the box yesterday so will do some more tests. I loaded the latest rudbox image and setup mgcamd and newcs. Mgcamd stops after a period of time for some unknown reason. Also when I tried to record two programs at the same time I got problems with the picture breaking up .

I was using latest mgcamd compiled for relook any one else goy any comments on which mgcamd there using and any similar problems ?

i think you may have probs recording two encrypted channels at the same time

Back to the original question

I'm told they are PES files (some kind of MPEG stream format)

I have a test file from someone (I have a Mutant, not a Relook)

I've been trying to find any linux based program to play it or convert it, but no luck so far.

mplayer claims they will play PES files but it won't play the file I have

Have a look for projectX. It's Java based and can convert.
I think DGStation suplly their own PES solution and Denk has a Windows Version _http://www.denktenk.com/misc/MakePS_1.2.zip
