I am a subscriber with Nova.gr and started recently having problems with my Panasat IRD 720i decoder; it seems to stop working after being on for some time, so that the picture on the television is lost and replaced by a uniform grey.
If I, then, turn it off and on gain it starts working ok. Equally, if I switch it, even momentarily, to a different Nova channel and switch back to the channel I was watching originally, everything works well-till the next time this happens.
I admit I am not clear with the technology behind all this, but I sense that it may be time I replaced the device.
Could you offer me some advice, please?

Thank you!

Well this intermittent problem is not going to be easy to diagnose I suspect. How long is it normally between it happening or is it completely random? What type of connectors are being used to display the pictures are they scart leads? If so have you tried disconnecting one and plugging back in to see if that is the weak point? Is the sound still available when the screen greys out?

Good chance it's a dodgy connector - I agree with Topper: Remove and relocate (firmly and squarely).

Thank you for your replies!
The fault appears quite randomly and unpredictably.
Both image and sound tend to get lost.
It is indeed a SCART lead that connects the devices and I shall try the proposed solution. Should this not work, I will post again.
In the meantime, I am very grateful!

Gentlemen,
Despite trying to re-connect securely the SCART leads, the problem persists.
Should I choose to replace the decoder, what machine would you recommend?

Thank you again!

The Edision argus VIP 2 is supposed to work with Nova. As I do not have a Nova subscription or Edison I can not test it.

Thank you for your advice!
Do you think that a Manhattan Plaza XT-CM would do the job, as well?

Have a really good Christmas!

any receiver that is irdeto 2 compatible will work or you could use a irdeto cam with any receiver you like if you got a preference for a certain make of receiver.
