Resurrecting a Legacy X86 PC..

There you go:

Must be some nasty breath if you need mints that badly... :P

Since I now have so many OS in Chameleon...obviously it would be useful to have a shared drive that can be seen by all operating systems ...and since I have physical space ..and extra psu available now having removed mint on hard drive in favour of a minty fresh CF ..
I remembered I have a 68 pin header available on the scsi card ..so why not mount a shared scsi drive in FAT16 that all OS can 'see' as D:
Just error checked and surface scanned my old baracuda 2gb 68 pin drive ..which although a bit noisier than modern drives ..
..is well over 20 years old ..and still perfect ..
not a bad cluster on it ..
:D

Oh boy ...
look what I dug out of my loft ..
Battery foooked as expected ...as is the cmos battery ...and the hard drive needed some attention ..
a whapping 800mb -ish ...but tis now viable with some more work ..and a lot of cleaning..
The Norton anti virus is out of date sadly..
;)
But these do make excellent DOS gaming units ..and can change hands for upwards of £100 in working order..

Tonight I'm going to rig something up to image the 44 pin hard drive ...as a working image is in itself a rarity..

Perfect candidate for a CF-to-IDE mod too, should work in that age of a laptop as I did the mod to an old Compaq Contura 4/25 (until the motherboard died!), replacing a very tired and unhappy Conner hard drive... :)
