I am so fedup of the poor quality sound of MP3s that I am now going to use my HiMD player/recorder for my portable music. The players are as portable as an iPod except for an additional "wallet" for a dozen MDs and the quality is as good as CD and a disc holds up to 80mins. In standard MD mode I can get over 5 hours on a disc in medium MP3 quality. This also makes iy a lot easier to play a complete album as the artist intended.

I am also looking at MQS (Mastering Quality Sound) where music is recorded on Micro SD cards in lossless 24 bit FLAC (higher quality than 16 bit CDs). Apparently it is quite popular in S Korea and pre recorded cards are available (a few appear on fleabay UK Personal layers are rather expensive starting at over £200 akthough they can be played on PCs and possibly tablets.

I know tidal is playing with a system called mqa.

I think it's along a similar line as the cd cards format. Just tidal is streaming it.

I am curious about mqs?

There was the Beatles 1 album listed on mqs, now can't find it.

I will get a couple just to have one, as I have some blu ray audio, shm cd, sacd etc etc.
