'Pop Picker' Alan Freeman has passed away.

A great DJ on the BBC for many years.

'Stay bright' Alan, wherever you are.

I grew up with DJs like Alan Freeman on Radio Luxembourg, then the Light Programme as it was then.:)

A sad loss.

Just emailed a fellow 'mate' about Alan's passing (off the back of the Guardian story).

79yrs isn't bad for a pop picker of his talent; although the article said he stopped broadcasting in 2001??.

I am sure he wont mind that I remember the Harry Enfield parody a little more than his genuine DJ talent - being the youngling that I am.:)

RIP not 'arf.

I used to really enjoy his Saturday afternoon programme on Radio 1. His mix of rock music with the occasional classical piece was just wonderful. He wasn't pretentious or snobbish.

A great loss.

Many people forget Alan Freeman was a writer and an actor as well as a DJ.

I will always remember him in the classic FILM, Dr Terror's House Of Horrors...

But yes a great DJ. "NOT 'ALF!"
