..... does exactly what it says on the tin.

PROVIDED you can actually open the flaming thing!

Started applying Exterior Woodstain to my window frames back in Spring. Got sidetracked over the Summer and finally got the urge to finish the job starting today.

Even though I'd only opened the tin once before, the lid was so solidly sealed on that I had to destroy it to get at the contents.

So my plan to do a frame or two per day has gone out of the window and I shall have to engage in a marathon and get it all done this afternoon.

Look forward to your next post when you've finished.

See you in the spring...

I store my paint etc. tins that still have useable quantities upside down, shaking the tin to effect a seal.
I have been able to use stuff so stored many years later.

Likewise, but it didn't help!

The stuff cures so quickly it defies normal practice.

Still, it's made me crack on and the job looks like a good 'un.

Right. More or less finished.

Put some cling film over the can in the hope the dregs will be usable for touching-up tomorrow.

'tis good stuff, though but. The underlying hardwood of the frames is totally sound and I've found that just scraping off any peeled or bubbled coating is all the prep. needed apart from wiping over with a dry cloth.

Five years since I last had occasion to do it.

Have to admit that when I first read the thread title I was preparing to post an RIP. There's been so many this year, I thought Ron Seal was an another deceased old pop star.....

Ron Seal? Wasn't he married to Val Spar?

We really ought to gloss over that.

Is that a top coat?

Yes, I latched on to that.

Rising butts?

Cue Milamber

Doh!

You saw right through it.
