Hi mates,

What cable you use to connect your dreambox 7020 to your router?

Me I previously used a patch cable with my D-Link 54g router but now for some reason it has stopped working.

However, when I use a crossover cable to connect to my router, it works perfect - could access internet, update keys etc.

What cable do you use? crossover or patch and which is the recommended one?

A regular CAT5 ethernet cable.

A crossover probably won't work unless you've got a very good router.

Was working fine with the D-Link Di624+ router but the box has stopped working again wtih both patch and crossover

Feel like trashing this 7020.

Anybody having problem connecting their DM7020 with the router? Is this a hardware or software problem?

There's a thread about routers and 7020's. I think it's on this forum, but it may be satdudez or toes. It went along the lines of "lots of routers don't work with a 7020".

Thanks mate,

Did not read that one but from other post I have learned that the DM7020 network is not good. I hope dream multimedia will do something about this!!!

Cheers and all DM7020 owners - I hope you don't face this problem too.

I have found that the box needs to warm up (LOL!) before the network works.

i.e. watch a movie for about 1 hour - then switch the box off and immediately switch it on.

This shows how junk this Dreambox 7020S is!!!

I've found it's "pot luck" (sorry for technical term)

Swith the box on and off and eventually it works without dropping the connection. You may have to do this 10 times before it works.

I'm using a netgear router with cross over cable.

I think the recent images built on later Kernel and FSP 1.05 are the problem. I have had similar problems after rebooting all since installing Gemini 2.20 and the latest DMM in flash.

I plug the DB into the XBOX now. After the DB has booted I put it back in the LAN. Seems to love the Xbox once its working its working and no problems until the next reboot.

hehe well I won't go into underwear because my taste is far too boring. I use a Linksys wrt54gs and it works fine wired with crossover or patch and also over the Linksys wet54g wireless bridge which I'm using now.

Yeah I have three boxes, and one have of them seems to not like the wifi bridge I have for it, even though another box has exaclty the same one, oh and it use to work fine with the bridge, just decided to stop working one day. I have got it working by doing the old turning on and off a dozen time...quality stuff!

I wouldn't swap my 7000 for a 7020 if you paid me. At least I know it's limitations and it's reliable.

DMM have lost the plot.

i have used 1 wired and 2 wireless netgear routers with my 7020 and all worked without a hitch. admittedly i run a cat5 cable between the router and the dreambox. one of the new netgear mimo 108g router works a treat. i bought a wireless bridge, but unfortunately i can't seem to get it recognised by my wireless network (i think it must be a dud), so my relook and 7020 are hardwired into the back of my wireless router. i suppose i could use as USB wireless bridges but would then lose the images in my 512MB USB stick.

i suppose i wouldn't matter so much on the relook and i suppose it would really matter on the dreambox either as i only use one image, Gemini 2.6, anyway.
