My laptop connects to the Internet via a wireless router connected to the ADSL router modem, and works fine.

My PC connnects to the ADSL router modem (CAT5 not wireless). I can ping the router and see the web if of my Dreambox. It can't see or ping the Internet, either by IP address or URL.

It was working OK but very slowly until today. A reboot later and it's not working. I've done a full Spybot, Pest Patrol and AV scan- all OK. Firewall is currently off.

Any ideas as this is really pi**ing me off.

Thanks.

Try running the network setup wizard again, or use the repair function. what browser are you using?

PC has fixed IP address and the network settings are all correct.

It uses a CAT5 cable (not wireless). Firefox and IE both do nothing; can't even ping my ISPs DNS server.

Because my PC had been running like a dog I installed a network monitoring program yesterday.

Rebooted today. What I didn't realise was it had a firewall in it and it blocked everything.

That'll teach me not to pay attention when installing....

Thanks again for your help and suggestions :)

Now to get "security and sharing" back onto the right-click context. grr....
