Hi

Sorry if this in wrong section didn't know where to place it. If it is could admin please move it to right section. Thanks

I have running another cable from my dish i already had one so i got another cable and used a f barrel (coupler) and connected them both but it wouldn't work. Can you actually use a f barrel to merge the two wire or do you have to run one long wire?

Thank

Not sure what you mean.

You can join a single cable together with two "F" connectors and a female to female "F" adapter (barrel), but you mention merging, what do you mean by this?

You can't split a single feed.

If you need a second feed, this (generally) requires a spare LNB output and an entirely separate cable.

This is because Satellite Tuners don't just receive from the Dish/LNB, but also have to send control signals to the LNB.

i already have a quad lnb and i have a shorter cable and i am connecting the to another bigger cable so it can reach to the box using a threaded f barrel.

Yeah, I do this a lot for quick tests. You might lose a bit of signal doing it, but I don't tend to have any major problems...

No real problem with that ............ in general, joints aren't best practice, but properly made-off extensions with barrel connectors aren't going to cause grief. At least they maintain proper screening throughout, unlike cheap faceplates!

it wouldnt work so i just decided to buy a longer cable to avoid joints and for better signal and quality
