Running Chromium From USB

Having recently installed Ubuntu alongside Windows 7 on my Netbook, the thirst for cautiously trying new things has been enhanced.

Now, Ubuntu comes with a chunk of Cloud (Or should that be a wisp?) for data/document storage and I haven't availed myself of that feature yet ............... but the whole idea of Chromium is to use the Cloud for Apps as well.

I see one can download Chromium and burn an ISO to USB to allow one to run it as a trial, but rather than just dive in, I wondered if any of our Members have tried Chromium and can summarise pros and cons?

Sorry Tivu, I completely missed your post.
I use Chrome and have to say I like it's clean speedy feel, FF was becoming cumbersome and prone to crashes and as I alluded to in an earlier post the only thing I miss is the live link interpreter but it is no biggy really. Setting up to run the way you want it is easy enough, importing your existing info is achieved by exporting an html file from your existing browser and importing to Chrome, creating opening tabs and organizing how or how not to store information is easy enough plus there is an incognito browser window if you want/need one

I use Chrome also, on occasion ............... but I'm asking about Chromium, the Cloud based Operating System (Perhaps they should have chosen a less similar name for it!) :)
 
Ha! I was also just about to post about Chrome, which I installed on my brother's laptop. Yes, stupid name.

Perhaps they should have as in my head that word conjurs up smooth shiny plating on steel tubes
 
Well they are both Google thingies, so I expect the confusion will only increase in the future, rather than diminish.

................ Chromobile? Cromapp?

There is a serious connotation, though: Many of us try to dispense with the ubiquitous Microsh*t offerings and now we are being fed a pile of Google. And swallowing it.
 
That's what happens when big corporations are allowed to swallow up all the opposition... :rolleyes:
 
My other half uses dogpile for searches, but I've never found it to be as good as the unlimited (turn off every restriction ) Google.

Is there something similar that can be done to improve it ?
