I found some old pics of my early attempts at S band. The first was a feed made from an empty catering tin of Cadbury's Smash. It was on a ~1m petal dish originally for Meteosat. The feed probe connection is on the top of the tin (implying vertical polarisation) and the LNA is just visible on the end. I think that just about worked but it would have been difficult to attach to the Winegard 10ft. (Why, oh why, did I sell it? Anyone got one for sale now?)

Next step was to improve the LNA and attach something to the Winegard...

...which worked well. The screen shots are from Arabsat 1A at 19E. I think it was in SECAM but there doesn't look like there is enough chroma noise. The S band transponder was taken over by Egypt in 1991.

Most impressive SB ...
such a pity there is nothing really to aim for in S band these days ...or I might be tempted to try for myself..

As far as i know the only sat with S-band stuff on is 108.2e which broadcasts the Indovision package, sadly not seen in Europe due to the planet being in the way :D

Indovision on SES 7 at 108.2°E - LyngSat
Yes, I think that's all. LNBs etc on Aliexpress and Ebay are sold for that package.
I think there was TV for a while around 2000, from Insat 1DT (ex. Arabsat 1C) at 55E then 83E for India. There are plenty of beacon, data and TT&C signals in Europe now, if you are sad enough to look.

I can't edit my post but I must have been watching Arabsat 1B not 1A as the latter failed.

I've attached a couple of C-band shots from around the same time, on the same dish, as a comparison. JTV was probably on the ASBU feed and Oman was a normal DTH, both PAL.
