Advice Needed Sat nav recommendations

Hi,

My mother wants a new Sat Nav for her (in)frequent travels. Can someone recommend a decent, recent (preferably new but will take an older one) navigator that is mom-proof? Easy to use, she doesn't need any fancy mobile connectivity/Yellowtooth malarkey but I guess traffic updates would be a bonus.

Only ever used a Garmin Nuvi CJ. It's been reliable and doesn't (often) send you 'off piste'. I think a lot depends on how you ask it to calculate a route. In the Dacia Duster we have an inbuilt satnav and if you ask it for a fast route, it will send you through a town if it's one minute quicker than going the 'normal' less busy but longer route. Ease of use is definitely the way to go...
 
Does she have/use a mobile phone ?
 
Same as sonnetpete ... Garmin Nuvi ... nothing fancy, but does the job .. sensible price too :)
 
She does but wants a stand-alone sat-nav. She, like me, hates to use phones for sat-nav purpose - especially given their tiny screens.
 
Mine is a Garmin Nuvi 50 .... had it about 2 years .. cheap and cheerful .. no complaints
 
I used a Nuvi 200 for about two years before it died (more my fault than the device).

It had more than most with wide screen and Europe maps but did the job well for just over £100
 
I like the Morrison's version of the AA UK Road Atlas.

Costs only £2 and does the job without the inevitable element of distraction Sat Nav entails.
