Eh?

Rai is going to continue on Satellite as well as being on Terrestrial!

The Tivù project includes both forms of delivery.

FTA (mainly) version of Rai will continue to be available in the short term and even when they disappear you'll be able to get Rai with a TivùSat box/Card or via a CAM/Card (due for release quite soon) on Digital Satellite.

Well they wouldn't because not much is really changing very quickly as regards Sat.

The big change is the phasing in of DTT in Italy.

How do you propose to be within range of a DTT transmitter carrying Rai? Your profile says you are in Malta and DTT has a normal range of the order of 100km.

Ah!

Yes, I did wonder :)

You might need a pretty meaty Yagi array to succeed, though.

And be patient: According to the changeover timetable here

@Tivu'

can you please explain (if you know) how sky italia are going to transmit the digital terrestrial FTA channels thru a USB stick (on their HD receivers only) - they are (or were) advertising this option since since a month ago

thanks again for your info

No, sorry but I can't.

I'm not at all sure we yet understand how our UK DTT HD service is going to pan out, equipment wise (As there doesn't seem to be any!).

Perhaps what is being offered over there is just a USB HD DTT dongle that interfaces with some (but no doubt not all) existing Receivers, effectively upgrading them - to save having to buy a whole new Receiver. I really don't know.

DVB T2 and MPEG-4 AVC seems to be the new jargon for our UK system, and I assume the Italian one will be similarly based.

Well if you do, please feed back your experiences here 'cos we're all on a learning curve with DTT HD
