Advice Needed satellite dish for a listed Building

None at present!
My Location
Somerset
We live in a 3rd story flat of a grade II listed building, so are not allowed to attach a dish to the outside of the building.

I have come accross a flat dish with a window attatchment, which means the dish is clamped to the window frame (so no permanent fixing or alterations to the building itself).

Does anyone know if this would be acceptable for a listed building or am I still likely to get into trouble?
 
Do you have a balcony that faces south east ish? If so you may be able to mount a dish discreetly on the balcony.
 
Mount the dish inside at a South facing window, (if you have one) but you will have to make up a plexiglass window (and maybe a frame to hold it) to keep the weather and bugs out, as some dual pane windows will block the signals from the satellites so much that you can't get a good signal, you may also need to remove the window screen if it is aluminum.
 
Don't think it matters if it is not permanently mounted, just the fact that it's there. Are you the top floor and is there perhaps a gully the dish could be nestled into?

We only have single glazed windows, and all our front windows face south. Do you think there is the possibility it may just work through this?
 
You stand an even chance: People have succeeded, that's for sure. But there's no guarantee.

The single glaze and the orientation should help weigh the odds in your favour, though.

As long as the window glass is not UV or IR reflective (it would have a tint to it) then you may be OK, normal glass may attenuate the signals a tad bit, but if needed a larger dish can compensate for this.
 
Depending of satellite you are looking forward to receive, big dish inside the room might be an option.
Another options also exist:
- Put antenna on the roof;
- use internet TV;
- move to another apartment.

Cold you show some pictures of your building (view from outside)?
 
What size dish are you thinking that you'll need? Without tests no-one can give a you definitive answer but it will have to be larger than the standard ones. So 60cm would be the starting point but you may have to go larger than that.
 
This is also a grade 2 listed building...can you spot the dish?
