Satellite Receiver for Middle East Use

Hey Guys,
I live in the Middle East and recently bought Humax Foxsat HDR. Unfortunately, I found out, since I don't have freesat, that non freesat channels you can't set timer to record nor can you transfer recorded SD media to USB storage.

After reading through multiple sites I came to the conclusion that there is no way around it. So I decided to just return it and buy another model that can be used to get free channels from Arabsat, Nilesat, Hotbird and:
1- Has HD output (preferably component)
2- Can record up to 2 channels and watch a third
3- Can arrange the channels as I see fit (humax starts the channel list from non freesat from 5000)
4- Set a timer for recording (one program or more?) that can bet set to record programs daily on a specific time without the use of EPG (Some channels doesn't have EPG)
5- Overall fast menus
6 (Optional)- Can copy recorded files to external storage via USB
I've went through a lot of threads and the amount of info avilable is overwhelming. I have a humble knowledge of satellites (I dont know what is freesat nor freeview) so I was hoping that you guys help me out figuring out which would be suitable.
Any suggestion?

Try Ebay for a Comag SL90 HD or SL100HD CI (the one I have)

1 - Yes
2 - No
3 - Yes, but not intuitive and needs time spent on it
4 - Yes
5 - reasonable
6 - Can record to Transport Stream or MPEG 2 video file format (very handy), and unlike other recievers, will do this regardless of wether you are recording FTA or encrypted (with appropiate Pay TV card) channels
 
Thanks Dark. I'd prefer a new system that also has the ability to record 2 channels at the same time. I keep hearing about Topfield SRP-2410 and 3view. Any thoughts?

I was gonna post the exact same post. I am looking for a receiver just like the one you described. I saw a receiver called ECHOSTAR HD-600RS and its a freesat+ ( i dont know what that means, or if it works with arabsat nilesat hotbird) if anybody can tell us if it does and what it means. if it works in the middle east I want it. Other boxes that seem intersting are the dreambox 8000 and Sonicview SV-8000HD.
Same thing dont know if the work in the middle east and if they fit the criteria you set. I wish somebody with knowledge could enlighten us and tell us if they do all of the above.

The Echostar also has sling box which is a really good feature
 
Dear AudioBahn, Where do you live exactly? I'd like to help you!!! I'm living in ME too. Depending on your country, your choices will be different and you're be able to install a dish from 90cm to 2 or 5 metre, that will increase your channels and also you'll have different choices of LNBs whilst in some Shiite countries like Iran, some parts of Palestine or Iraq you won't be able to find these things in stores. Anyway, for your receiver choices I’ll go for Dreambox 8000. It is good. The new ones having USB port and pic in pic mode. The Humax was a good choice too, need to find the cracked program.

The VU+ Duo will do more or less everything the DM8000 can and its half the price.

It also has very good support. It can also be used for terrestrial by adding a USB DVB-T DVD stick, although i'm don't think they have decided which standard they are going to use in Kuwait as of yet.

I think in Kuwait, you'll find some sort of magazine's selling satellite equipment or kits, think they have different kind of supports for every kind of customer. They'll take care of cabling and ip addressing too.
