satellites recievable in glasgow

hi guys i can recieve so far between 45e-45w all ku sats with the exception of badr 5 and 6, 7west, and 4 west wondering is it possible to recieve either 31 east or 52 or 53 east
using 1.1 mt dish darkmotor lnb and vu ultimo thanks
 
Welcome to the forum Brother.I think you can forget 53* unless you are on the top of a hill somewhere with no obstructions to the south.As for 31*east,it's not a bird I've frequented.I will give it a try later and post any results for you from the lovely Southside.Nice numbers !
 
53E is not a difficult satellite as it's relatively powerful but, like Colin says, you do need a line of sight as it's relatively low in the sky. I receive 68.5E with only 3 degree elevation and even had a lock on 70.5E with an elevation of 1.6 degrees.

In Glasgow, 53E is 9 degrees above the horizon so is doable but you need a flat land in front of you. Check Dish Pointer site to see if you can get it.

The same goes for 52E.

just checked dishpointer and unfortunately there are 2 large blocks of flats that could be blocking it if i knocked it down there would be a worse refugee problem here :-)
 
The only way to find out is to try it. If you have an iPhone or an Android phone, you can try the dishpointer app for the visual representation. It's not definitive but would give you an idea.
 
53E is a reasonably easy catch here in the Borders - try for the Uzbek channels. On Yahsat 52.5E only the European beam is possible, at the moment I think there is only one tp using it and a not very interesting one at that.

Never tried for 31E so dont know about that one.
