Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm planning to install a new system in Italy. Either one or two dishes pointing at Astra28.2E and hotbird13E with a UK sky+ digibox and card for the Astra signal and an Italian freeview box for the Italian channels on hotbird. The TV I'm looking at (Italian) has a twin SCART input, so I am planning on using that to switch between the two signals. That won't let me record Italian channels, unless I also buy a PVR, but hey.

Two questions really. 1. Does that set up sound sensible? I'd really welcome suggestions. 2. More particularly, will the SCART output of the UK Sky box work with the Italian TV SCART input?

The scart lead should be fine, as most European TVs will handle all of the standards.

The bigger question you need to ask, is what do I want to receive on the UK receiver, if you are looking for BBC and ITV, then we need to know where in Italy you will be, as it is fringe reception for the Astra 2D channels and a normal sized dish probably won't suffice.

Locals have advised 1.5m, which seems to be what others have said in these and other forums. It'll be in the garden so size is not really an issue. We're in the mountains at 600m above Lucca.

You cannot beat local knowledge and if there are neighbours who receive the channels on a 1.5m, then you can pretty much count on that, subject of course to using high quality equipment. :)
